We were dining at a restaurant located in the same building as The Eve Hotel and decided to take a few casual photos with our personal cameras before and after our meal. Within minutes, we were approached by a blonde security guard who told us we weren’t allowed to use our cameras but we could take photos on our phones, which makes absolutely no sense. A photo is a photo, whether it’s taken on a phone or a camera.
We even asked if the issue was the flash, but that clearly wasn’t the problem because we were told using our phone flash was fine. So why were cameras not allowed? It felt completely inconsistent and arbitrary.
What made this even more frustrating is the fact that the place went viral in the first place because of photos taken in that exact hallway. It’s been all over social media — that’s literally why people go there. So to be told we couldn’t take photos there made absolutely no sense and felt incredibly unwelcoming.
Shortly after that, we were stopped from taking any photos at all, even on our phones. We weren’t doing anything disruptive or commercial, just trying to capture a nice moment in a public space.
The interaction felt unnecessary and overly aggressive. If the area has strict photo policies, they should be clearly signed and consistently enforced, not left to random judgment calls that ruin the experience. Completely off-putting and...
Read moreI stayed in room 314. While the hotel and staff are amazing, I’d request a room that doesn’t look out at the neighbouring apartments.
The interiors are beautiful, and the bed and pillows are very comfortable. Coffee, bar, snacks, and room service from Bar Julius is also available.
While I enjoyed the various light settings, the only control panel is by the bed, which isn’t very practical when trying to use the bathroom, or control the lights from any other part of the room.
The room also has a small balcony however it looks out at the neighbouring residential apartment block. The room’s only window also looks directly at this apartment building, right into people’s homes. You can see them and they can see you, so you have to keep the curtains closed for privacy.
Honestly, I’m surprised that a room with a $700+ per night price point has such a mediocre and disappointing view.
The staff and service were amazing — every person working there that I encountered was friendly and helpful.
Also all the restaurants in the complex are really great, especially Island Radio. And it’s walking distance to more shops and restaurants on Crown St. Cleveland St is pretty busy though, with lots of traffic and noise.
The Eve is definitely worth a try, although I’d request a room with a better...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of staying at The Eve for my birthday. We had been eagerly anticipating its opening and after months of watching its development and hearing friends insist it was a must try, we finally booked a visit—and the experience exceeded all expectations.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the perfect balance of luxury and unique character. The attention to detail was evident everywhere: the thoughtfully designed lobby and the carefully curated artworks throughout the property were fabulous - sophisticated but welcoming.
The service throughout our stay was absolutely wonderful. What stood out most was how genuinely lovely the staff were—their warmth didn't feel rehearsed or forced, but like a natural extension of people who truly enjoy what they do. Every team member we encountered was just always happy to help.
The room was styled so intentionally and having stayed in many Sydney hotels, this has to be one of our new favourites. So comfortable and chic.
Bar Julius and Lottie were definite highlights of our stay. The menus were avant-garde and the food was fantastic.
To anyone considering a stay, you can absolutely believe the hype. The Eve delivers...
