The House of Pie — Restaurant in Sydney

I do feel bad writing this as I have been supporting this business for almost 30 years. The quality must have gone downhill as I had some nasty food poisoning the other day. I purchased 2 pies, and one with the lot (peas, mash and gravy). I was expecting to pay $13.50 cos the sign said $6 a pie and 0.50c for the extras, but was a bit puzzled when it came to $16. Never mind, I just let it go. But then a couple hours my husband and I ate the pies we were on the dunny. It was the only thing we had eaten that day so we are certain it was the pies. We have been sick for the past 48 hours and we may pay a trip to the hospital if it doesn't subside. Feeling curious to see if anyone else had suffered the same fate as us, I googled the joint and was (semi)surprised to see that the most recent review is of someone complaining of food poisoning. I don't want to bring a small business down but I do want them to follow up and improve...

I have been coming buying pies, pasties etc for many years as their customer but today’s experience is really shocking!!! The person who served me last week and today as well didn’t even care what the customer wants. I asked last week for Mushroom pie put in takeaway with gravy on top, but she didn’t put it. This morning at around 06:20 AM I went there to get Ham Cheese Bread and Caramel Slice, the way she served was disgusting and this person should never work in hospitality. She LITERALLY USED HER FINGERS GRABBED MY ORDER in front of me and she has her long nails. after she grabbed the caramel slice without tongs, or glove , she rubbed her hands on her dirty apron !!! If I could report this to NSW Health Food Authority, I would not hesitate to do it !! Please serve the customer seriously! It sad your business has to lose a customer of many years due to...

I'm a local, however no bias opinions here..! I've driven from Sydney to Melbourne and visited many many local pie shops, and even visited one in Melbourne whom claimed to be Australia's best pie and won multiple awards. But I'm convinced my local pie shop is better than them.! I advised them they should enter this competition, as I'm sure many Australians taste buds would agree matraville pie shop is the best! However as I've stated there is no bias here and I must say, the quantity, not quality is little less than b4..! I'm sure there used to be more meat..! And sometimes in the afternoons, the pies are a bit overcooked. But saying that, they have always offered those pies for free, no charge! So absolutely no complaints there at all..! Every staff I came across are all nice. I'm an Asian and not once did I feel I was treated any different! Well done...
