The Local Tart Leichhardt — Restaurant in Sydney

Came here just at closing time, after jumping from the cafe next door for a coffee and pastries but they had turned their coffee off. I asked from the door step if coffee was closed and the owner hesitated and asked me what I was after. I just said 2 coffees. He proceeded to ask what coffee and I told him. He agreed to make them hesitatedly and I said thank you. He then said you should have come here first. I was taken by his response because I was purely just on the hunt for an afternoon coffee anywhere I could get one and didnt expect to get attitude from a Cafe owner on a Saturday afternoon. As I waited for the coffee I felt uncomfortable and felt like walking out. Owner asked me what I purchased from their other Cafe and I said some pastries and he said we have that too and then again said I should have come there first. I laughed it off, I finally got the coffee and ran out the door after hearing the owner say see you again soon. Even if the coffee was good I wouldn't come back here. This was...

Possibly the worst serviced Cafe in the area. I've been here at least 8 times as I live around the corner. The wait times are over 10 minutes for a take-away coffee when the place is empty! I only visit now if everything else is closed or packed.

Each time I've gone there the barista and other staff hang around chatting or shuffling items back and forth instead of serving the customer. To top it off, my order has been wrong 5 out of 8 visits. How hard is it to make a large Cappuccino? I didn't order soy or almond milk! The lids even had the correct order noted on it each time.

Incidentally the food is quite good. There is usually a longer wait though in keeping with the theme.

Love the Local Tart! Great coffee, healthy food, sweets and traditional Italian biscuits, great breakfast and lunch bar. The Local Tart even sells fresh pies and sausage rolls which is a rarity!

Such an unassuming place for its location, but trust me it’s worth a stop in, and several returns!
