I recently visited Jolly Café in Leichardt and had a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing coffee break or a casual meal with friends. The décor is charming, with a cozy and rustic vibe that makes you feel right at home.

The menu offers a great selection of food and beverages. I tried their cappuccino, which was expertly crafted with a rich, smooth flavor. Their lamb chops are delightful and the chile cheese and honey bread is amazing. The food was 10/10, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.

The service was outstanding. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about providing a good experience. They were quick to take my order and brought everything out promptly.

I used to really like this place but lately the food and service have been very inconsistent. I order the same thing every time yet they never seem to be able to remember. I always have to ask them to make my poached eggs soft and even then they only manage to get them right half the time. At least the eggs were not stone cold like the last time but were quite flavourless. I suppose I shouldn’t complain the price for the breakfast is very reasonable but it’s frustrating to have to make the effort every time. The owner got angry with me for taking my coffee back to the counter as they had served it in a glass which was too hot to hold and I asked for a mug, like it was normally served in. I just wanted to sit for a little while and enjoy a cup of coffee. The restaurant was not busy. She poured it into a takeaway cup. I’m torn writing this review because I’ve been a customer for a long time and enjoyed going there but I don’t know if dealing with their frustrating lack of consistency...

In a world (at least a city) where there are plentiful options for getting a 'burger' none is so true to the form as the Jolly Burger from Cafe Jolly.

This review is going to focus purely on the burger. Why? because I could write a small novel on the burger alone. There are many other places that attempt the Burger. They have milk or brioche buns, they have all manner of meat patties and topped with exotic sauces and other concoctions.

Those other places have forgotten (or didn't know) what a real burger is. No need for any of that fancy and distracting options. Follow Cafe Jolly with their burger.

Egg, beetroot, lettuce, generous meat patty, cheese .. the ingredients go on.

Don't try to reproduce this - just try the burger, you won't be disappointed. Bring a friend to share the experience.
