The Shed Cafe - Randwick — Restaurant in Sydney

I hesitated to post this after the indifferent welcome I received, but since the management responded, I owe it to future customers to share my experience. Their much-talked-about butterscotch arrived with the texture of the Sahara Desert. It was parched, gritty, and completely off-script from the rich, buttery finish I was promised. It felt like a butterscotch gone wrong.

What makes this worse is the strain it puts on the ‘poor’ staff. Service felt careless and rehearsed, as if nobody believed in the product they were selling. If this place truly values its offerings, it needs to start with recipes that deliver on their hype and a culture that invests in its people. Until then, I can’t recommend a...

Be careful of the hygiene standards here. I ordered a cinnamon scroll, and watched the staff member dump it on a pile of till receipts before putting it on my plate. I told her I wanted another one. She told me she’d bring me another one. Attempted to try and bring the same one. I sent it back. I saw her return the contaminated one to the display cabinet. When she brought me my new one, I asked her if I’d seen correctly. She said yes - she had returned the contaminated one to the cabinet. When I said it wasn’t nice that another person had to eat it. Update: Sept 2025. Prices have gone up and size of dishes have decreased considerably, not making this establishment as competitive as before.

Great fresh and delicious food with lots of variety on the menu at very reasonable prices considering our current economic climate - I am a big fan of their vegan bowl. I’ve been there a few times and it never disappoints. Staff are super friendly and go that extra mile. The fact that it is always very busy with lots of people eating there, is a testament of how good this place is. Highly recommend. Keep up...
