EDIT!!!
Restaurants suffered a painful death. They've stuffed up the last 2 orders ive had. First order they filled it with corriander despite me repeatedly telling them im allergic to it. I vomit if I eat it. Order just now I requested fresh chilli's 4 times and they sent it without The dish is really bland for a pho andxwithout it takes really boring. Giving it a big miss from now on.
The following is a review I wrote about the restaurant a year ago. However, they have had NEW STAFF and OWNERS as the food is back to how it was in 2003 - EXCELLENT! Big generous portions and beautifully fresh herbs and sprouts. I am so blown away by their performance in bringing the restaurant back to it's gloriest best that I'm editing my original post to reflect this. Lovely waitresses and owner and you can tell that in the now excellent quality of the food. I always have the beef pho and a crispy skin chicken (1/2 portion or lunchtime serve) and share it with my 6 year old daughter. We now eat there once a week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do now.
Previous review written 9 months, given 1 star:
Very Poor quality food. I have been there 4 times thinking it's just my problem and get over it as it's just up the road but the food is no longer good. I keep asking for no corriander and they keep putting it in. Then they go and get a spoon and pull it out but of course, the dam soups full of it. Last straw was tonight when they charged me for a tea, except that they brought it out just as I finished my pho so i said its a bit late no thanks. Then they charged me for it. Disgusting service, mediocre food and a bit of a rip off price actually. $15 they charged me for a tiny awful broth of a bowl of beef pho... Go the Naughty Chef in Surry Hills anytime... except that I live just...
Read moreThis local Vietnamese restaurant has become my go-to place for some good, steamy phò, especially on a cold day.
The broth for the phò is much better this time round and still generous with the serving, especially beef.
However, on my plate of beansprouts and basil, a very looooong piece of hair was right on top.
Very unappealing and unappetising. The plate got changed. Luckily it was not in my noodle!
In my opinion, I must prefer their phò dăc biět and crispy noodles (with seafood) dish to the wonton soup.
My previous visit review is below.
My order took a little while to arrive due to how busy they were. Rolls were good, but the dipping sauce not so much, it wasn't the peanut sauce I'm used to, I think it was hoisin sauce instead.
Phò was good, however, the broth itself is very bland. Needs more herbs and seasoning. Good size, can't complain about the portion.
Service was good, staff...
Read moreAwesome to have good Vietnamese food in Randwick! When we don’t feel like driving all the way to VN Street Food at Marrickville (such as today in April 2018), we come here because Dalat has been consistently good. We always have the pho and the vermicelli with fried spring rolls and pork skin. The broth in the pho is reliably deep-flavoured and the raw beef slices were tender and beefy. The fried spring rolls remind me of those homemade by a mate’s Vietnamese aunty. We always leave sated and happy.
July 2018: Finally gave the banh xeo a go, and wished I had tried it sooner! The pancake was thin, crunchy and subtly flavoured with wok fire (haven’t tasted that lovely smokiness in other banh xeo so far). The filling of pork, sprouts, mung bean and prawns was very generous and so full of flavour, it didn’t need much gilding from the fish sauce. Ate it all up with lettuce and mint wraps. Will be...
