Stoked I accidentally walked past this joint.

Was looking for high st society then strolled past this and quickly poked my head in.

What was meant to be a quick browse, ended up in being a coffee tasting along with trying out their chicken salad.

The coffee was delightful. My flat white had a delicious chocolatey flavour and was an all round absolute treat. As an inner westy who drinks at coffee roasters most of the time I can say with decent confidence that this is great coffee.

My salad however really changed the bar on what kind of food you can expect at coffee roast houses. Normally it’s fairly basic as the focus is generally on coffee beans but here the food is its own entire game. The chicken salad was an absolute 10. I even asked if they had any chilli sauce and in turn, was gifted a side of some of the best fresh made chilli sauce I’ve had. Reminded me of that Italian style Chester white / buffalo dining club chilli sauce. 22 Grams informed me they plan on jarring this magic stuff and selling it so I’ll be popping in eagerly to attain some.

I’m not usually a regular; I like variety and food adventures, especially when traveling, but this place had me. Over the course of a week, I tried as much of their menu as I could fit in my schedule: the scrambled eggs and toast, poached eggs with avo and roasted tomatoes, chipotle scramble and the tomato goat cheese and basil. Everything was outstanding! The eggs were consistently cooked soft, not runny, which I normally do not like, but they were exceptional and flavorful. Trust these guys before asking for anything special. They know what they are doing and do it well. The goat cheese and tomatoes had a perfect proportion of each. The cheese was soft, and not overpowering; the tomatoes lightly caramelized and full of flavor. The chipotle was tangy with adobo, and mild in spice; perfect for breky; not overpowering. Their juices were fresh squeezed with bright flavorful taste. The pour-over coffee was outstanding as were the mocha and latte. They take their coffee seriously. I have been coming to 22grams semi regularly for the last 9 years. First came here when I studied at UNSW and lived on campus, now I come here whenever I get my car washed as my "staple" car wash just up the road in the shopping centre.

My "go to" throughout the year is the Chipotle Scrambled Eggs or the Goat Cheese Scrambled Eggs. I have had a myriad of other offerings in the past but I can never get away from this staple dish. The sourdough is often perfectly toasted and absolutely delicious.

I have noticed that the portion size has reduced over the years with the price being the same (I think) or similar. This is to be expected with the inflation these days - I have a picture of an overflowing plate of scrambled eggs somewhere from 9 years ago.

The coffee is excellent and the staff are quick and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxing but energetic at the same time.
