Well first of all congratulations as it is not easy to cook Mexican food, specially if you are that far. I’ve tried so many dishes done by Rosa and they are amazing, you instantly feel you are back home (I’m from Mexico). I have not seen any other Mexican place that the food is almost the same as Mexico, sorry to disappoint many people but Mexican food is not only burritos and hard shell tacos, the cuisine has so many different options, each state has its own food and I know that Rosa tries her best to make us not miss our country. I’ve read comments where they say overpriced... well I invite you to open your restaurant and see if you can really sell tacos for a dollar or whatever price people want, I’m sure not many people have tried authentic Mexican food, I also invite whoever is writhing here to give feedback, not to just complain about something they didn’t like, I guess it is different to say “personally I didn’t like it” than to say “don’t go there”. If you are Mexican it is a must, if you have not tried Mexican food at all and you are used to eat Guzman y Gomez, Mad Mex, give yourself the opportunity to try authentic Mexican food. I don’t have anything else to say rather than Gracias Rosa por hacernos...
Read moreThis casual sit down restaurant gets 5 stars from me for being an authentic and delicious restaurant serving the best Mexican food I've had in Sydney! I'm from California, so I have high standards when it comes to Mexican food and this is the only restaurant in Sydney that has ever met my expectations of simple, authentic Mexican food.
I ordered the grilled barramundi fish (my favorite), shrimp/prawn, and al pastor with pineapple tacos which were all delicious! The chicken tamale with green sauce tastes exactly like what I was hoping it would. Guacamole was made fresh to order served along with fresh tortilla chips. My partner ordered the tortilla salad bowl and said all of the ingredients tasted extra fresh to him too!
This is a family run restaurant who I can tell really puts a lot of love into their food. I'll 100% be back again to try out more of the menu!
Another note - huge shout out to the restaurant for having a salsa bar with homemade red and green salsa, with a TON of different types of hot sauces to add!
Do yourself a favor and see what real Mexican food tastes like at this restaurant. I promise you won't find anything like it...
Read more"What is real Mexican food?", is as inadequate a question as "what is real Australian male culture?" (Bad example?) Mexican food can actually come in a jar, or out of a packet. It can have avocado and lime and coriander, prawns and red onion, and mild or medium Chilli. But Mexican Street Food is a little different. Expect meat to feature, soused cactus, raw white onion and more ground corn than the old el paso factory could handle. The food here is delicious Mexican Street Food. There is pineapple in the pork el pastor taco, but you'll only notice it's effect on the balance of this star performer. Unsurprisingly, the tortilla I also corn, double lined, and as traditionally stretchy as you could wish. The tlakoyo is a soused cactus salad on an intentionally rubbery corn base. Add the hottest sales for an experience as Mexican as the groceries on sale. Try the tamarind candy, it's like nothing else. This won't be your favourite Mexican meal ever. But it will take you to a place that you have either already, or will one day visit..with authenticity, flavour and more...
