I recently had the pleasure of dinning at Savaari restaurant with 3 off our regular dinner party friends and if you google this name it is a ‘Modern Indian Bar and Restaurant’. Well that is a very good description of this little Inner West Gem of a restaurant. Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As soon as you walk in your are welcomed by the very attentive staff, then you start to take in the decor of the restaurant and its a little confusing for what you have in your mind of a Indian Restaurant. But it actually works very well with all the different decor and before you know it you are enjoying some amazing food with your dinner guest. Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The venue is a reasonably small on the inside, but you can see that in summer the outside would be a very busy place with such a cool area of Dulwich Grove at the start of Marrickville Road. Service was great overall with all staff been very attentive to the tables. Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ One off our Dinner guest party had missed a Light Rail on the way to Dulwich Grove and then missed the stop and went on to Dulwich Hill so they were running really late. So we ordered 4 Tapas plates or early entree and they were all very nice. Who does not like loaded fries, but these had the Butter Chicken loaded on top and they were very nice. We also had some traditional Indian street food items - Chutney Bombs - Samosa Rolls plus a Burrata Chaat to share and they all had awesome flavours. After a quick look at the mains i had no question what i wanted which was the GOAT CUTLETS as this is something that is not in every restaurant and we also had the Tandoor Chicken - Butter Chicken - plus someone wanted the Biriyani and you cant do this without some NAAN bread. It was all very nice with some really good strong flavours, a good sign off a night out dinning is when there was very little left over. Verdict: If you like a place with great ambiance/service with awesome Indian style flavours then you cant go pass this place in the INNER WEST suburb of Dulwich Grove. We will be back to try more...
Read moreOne of the two vegetarian curries on the menu were not available Our group was asked that we can order entrees only once and together
Poor fusion with Indian dishes and mostly just fancy names… food quality was just about average.
If you are looking for Indian food, I’d sincerely ask you to reconsider and drive a bit to the one of the many restaurants in Surry Hills, or come towards Harris Park. Do not go to this one for Indian food, it’s not worth it!
Update - one of the printed vegetarian curries was not available (and we were told there is an alternative, however I don’t recall being told that menu rotates every month as per the restaurant’s response on my comment)
Also while I fully appreciate that it’s a small business and that it takes an amazing amount of effort to run, telling a customer that a personal feedback is not welcome is strange!
I agree with the response to my feedback, it’s not a restaurant for...
