Today was the first and most likely last time I will be buying takeaway from this restaurant. Despite being a stickler for quality, I had decided to try something new and decided to give this place a go based on so many positive reviews, but I was a bit disappointed.
I was initially excited when I opened the Prawn Pad Thai because it was in a large rectangular box, but found that it had only came up to about 2/3 full. I thought they had completely forgotten the prawns and after digging around, found that there were only 3 prawns which is a quantity I have never encountered before from any Thai restaurant when that was the signature meat for the dish and as I was sharing everything with my husband and parents I therefore missed out. It is also not often that there is no tofu in the dish, but this can be forgiven as it wasn't indicated in the dish description on the menu. The amount of bean sprouts was also of a negligible amount so if you want some, make sure you get to the dish first.
The Chicken and Chili basil stir fry with vegetables was also 2/3 full in the large box, so similar to the rice, they could have used smaller boxes so they appeared full. Other than quantity, this dish was cooked perfectly and one that I enjoyed. Note the chicken is sliced extremely thinly which is also something a little unusual.
The Vegetable Pineapple Fried rice (another unfilled box) had a nice flavour and vegetables were cooked nicely. However, the rice was a little on the sloppy side and on the brink of becoming porridge.
The Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab was still nice considering it had cooled down by the time I got home which is to be expected but the sweet chili sauce provided was watered down so much it was complete liquid so we didn't use it at all.
The Satay Chicken skewers is the only dish that I absolutely cannot fault at all. It was cooked perfectly and the only one out of all the others that I would possibly order again if I went back.
I cannot really comment on the service of the staff, but in the short few minutes that I interacted with the girl taking my order, she was polite and friendly.
It is just a shame that the food did not reach the expectation I had established after reading the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are visiting from Italy and California. August 10th about 7pm. It is close to the center and train station. Atmosphere is simple and basic. Food was good with a large selection. No beer available. No complaint about the food.
However the server was rude and unfriendly. we asked about the food some of the different dishes and he kept saying Just read the menu and that is what it is.
We asked that the dishes be brought out together at the same time so we could share the meals.
They came to the table at random.
At the end of service we kindly asked the food be put in a box so we could take home and finish.
The server brought a plastic box with a lid and I asked for a bigger box so I could take it all in one.
He brought out more small containers and placed them on the table and walked away.
I kindly asked could you please put the food in the box.
The server responded if you want the food, you can put it in the box and take it.
If you don't want it, don't take it.
Then he walked away.
I asked what is the problem with trying to help.
The male server responded can't you see, I'm busy and I never put food in the boxes for customers because I don't have to.
He could have been polite about it. Instead he chose to be rude.
I will not promote this location anymore. I have been bring guest and family members here when they visit.
Now I have to choose the place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday I ordered lunch two dishes at the restaurant and got takeaway. My mother not well in between appointments I wanted Mum to enjoy some Thai food. When I opened one of the containers the order was wrong. I called the restaurant and the guy kept insisting he took my order correctly. I told him no you didn't. He said bring in the food and I will make your order. Again I went to the restaurant and while driving I forgot to take the food. No other restaurant has ever asked to bring back the food. When I got to restaurant they insisted they could not do anything until I brought back the food even if I brought it back next day. I explained my situation with Mum not well yet so sympathy. Again the guy insisting he took my order correctly. While at the restaurant not once did they give me anything else to compensate for the wrong order and the time inconvenience. I am regular here however will never return. First time order incorrect and it is the guy taking order mistake. Maybe they didn't have cashew nuts and wanted to substitute. I also spoke to owner and nothing until I return food and go back third time. This is ridiculous way to treat customers. Customers are always right yet they failed and I will never return. Tin Thai you got the order wrong and asking to bring back the food is just wrong. Please think twice...
