My wife and I travelled for an hour today (Saturday 27 August) to have lunch at the Toongabbie Hotel. We had purchased a Groupon voucher that offered $50 to spend on food and drink for $29. We had never been to the Toongabbie Hotel before and we thought that this was a good opportunity to try it out (which is no doubt why businesses offer these vouchers). The “valid hours” indicated on the voucher include Saturday and Sunday (lunch and dinner) and it also indicated “no booking required”. So, there was no indication that using the voucher for lunch on a Saturday would be a problem.||I walked up to the bar just after 12pm and handed the voucher to the woman behind the bar. She immediately indicated that I couldn’t use the voucher for lunch on Saturday. I asked her to indicate where that was stated on the voucher. She indicated that it was the clause that stated “cannot be used or combined with any other offer”. I queried how that was relevant and she said that it was because that they had lunch specials. I indicated that I was not interested in the lunch specials and that I wanted to order off the normal menu and in accordance with the normal menu prices. She said that it didn’t matter. I asked to speak with the manager and she claimed that she was the duty manager. I was left dumbfounded. How would anyone who purchased this voucher know that it would not be honoured on a Saturday for lunch? I have since checked the hotel web site and, again, there is no indication of any limitations on the use of these vouchers.||The dining area was empty at the time – there were no other customers. We do not wish to return to the Toongabbie Hotel given this experience. If offering vouchers is meant to build up new customers, then you have failed miserably. I have contacted Groupon to lodge an official complaint and to get a refund. I will also be sharing our experience on several online review sites so that others are not caught the same way. I don’t know if the food is good but I can certainly comment on the inadequacies with the...

Read moreCame for a quiet afternoon away from family, got a relaxing room that was pretty clean.
Staff was pleasant and super helpful too, they're just following store policy so don't sweat them too much.
Can't bring your own food inside, so instead of Dominos I had some of their wood fired pizza. Presentation was good but the portion was awfully delicate.
Toilets were far from positive, one wouldn't close when I needed to urinate either - and the seat looked so crusty it was as if it survived the Third Crusade. But the rest of the amenities, shower and bathtub were pretty spotless all things considered.
The location wasn't great either, the nearby shops were all Indian places, which is fair considering - there were other stores too but they seem to have long since closed, a shame as I had heard about a restaurant's longonisa.
Fantastic if you just need to get away from people who want your attention all day everyday. Don't come to Toongabbie for the shopping or a romantic date, do come if it's just chilling with the boys.
Another downside about the location, last minute edition: there are a few of the soulless money drains that are Chinese/foreign owned apartments nearby so enjoy your view out the window lol.
Doors are electronically keyed too...
