What an incredible evening ❤️ Loved everything about Trattoria Elva. Visiting a friend from Brisbane, he took us here for dinner on Friday night. We started with a milky, silky burratta, which we had with herbed foccacia (which wasn't really necessary) and the Meatballs Cacio & Pepe, followed by the "Da Gigino” Rustica (Italian Fior Di Latte, Garlic, Thinly Sliced Potato, Rosemary & Sea Salt), Pappardelle (4 hour Slow Cooked Lamb Ragu) and Spaghetti Marinara (Queensland Prawns, Mussels, Garlic & Chilli) and the piece a la resistance, Tiramisu (a delicious meld of sweet delights). The food was divine, with home grown, back to basics packed with flavour! All paired with a delicious glass of Italian Red. To be able to watch the chefs make handmade pasta and Pizzas adds a sense of authenticity to the whole experience. A warm buzz in the air, good food and wine flowing from table to table, sharing laughter and good conversation with friends - it doesn't get much better than that ❤️. Thank you to the wait staff for their expertise and attentive service, it wrapped up the evening in a perfect bow 🥰 We...
Read moreWe used to come here a lot, especially after the first lockdown, the food was amazing, the cut to order salumi and prosciutto and handmade pasta was perfect local Italian bistro fare. But tonight was pretty bad, which makes me sad to say because it wasn’t the service, they were lovely, just the food was terrible. Who puts sun dried tomatoes in seafood pasta, that is clearly not hand made? And my husband’s steak was chewy and tasteless, has there been a change of chef/owner? Because, it was definitely not the same place we loved. Unfortunately, won’t be back again, sorry guys with Totti’s next door, while being Bondi pretentious and expensive, does some really delicious food and proper handmade pasta, that Elva used to do, what we ate tonight does not stand a chance. I really hope for your sake, you understand the value of being a David to Merivale’s giant and get back to doing the delicious, fresh, unpretentious fare we all loved about you, or you risk losing that battle. I wish you...
Read moreSheesh… Avoid this kip. The food & the drinks are fine - Decent but barely above average. The portion sizes are tiny as well for the price of it.
The service is HORRENDOUS guys. Kinda rude staff but also they just haven’t a notion what’s going on here. We got our only drinks order by the time we finished our mains!
Planned to stay for the evening for a few drinks and dessert but honestly we’d have been here hours before getting another drink. Tables beside us also having the same issue and it’s not as if the place is packed - It isn’t. The table beside us, as I’m typing this review, has asked for the bill because their food orders are taking far too long to arrive.
Seriously all - avoid. We got here at 5:50pm and the only reason we haven’t left sooner is because we are sitting here desperately trying to pay our bill, but alas even that’s slow!
It’s getting two stars because the flavour of the pasta was nice -...
