I’ve been going to 21 for over 35 years. And have had always a great experience there. The food is still the same. Nothing beats their chicken schnitzel. Now I have my children going and they love it as well. It was so nice to catch up with some friends and have a good old classic meal. The portions were amazing. The service was fantastic, yes it’s a little bit dated but value for money long lasting memories. Nothing beats that. Looking forward to now taking my grandchildren. I’m so happy that the restaurant still the same and the owners are the ones who originally started. Totally recommend to take some friends if you want to eat good old classic food. You should try the traditional Hungarian dishes. Thanks again for the great service and looking forward to seeing you again.

We walked in without a reservation to a full house. The staff and owners found us a table for 4, served us quickly, food came quickly. We ordered garlic bread, a meat platter for 3 ppl but eaten aggressively by 2, lamb cutlets, some great WA Pinot Noir at a very reasonable price and 2 kids desserts for 1 kid as the chocolate mousse and ice cream tasted so good. Above all we had a great chat with the owner and about hungary. Such a friendly, affordable, quick and tasty place to eat and being welcomed makes this an easy place to come back to. Bravo for places like this that are still run by people that care and great food. Thanks for having us 21 🙏

This restaurant has been here for 65+ years and I’m sure they haven’t changed the decor, or the food over this time and they don’t need to. Families have been coming here for decades and the food is good, maybe a little overpriced. We had a schnitzel and you get to choose 2 sides, I chose creamed spinach, which I really really didn’t like and mash with mushroom sauce which you have to pay extra for. We also got the cucumber salad which was fabulous and highly recommended. The service was friendly even if slow. I did enjoy it, but have been spoilt with better from other restaurants.

Absolutely horrified at the way I have been treated as they refused to deliver food via Uber due to lack of credits. I have been eating there my whole life and spend alot of money there. I can't help it they don't have delivery options. I am sitting at home trying to deal with grief from the death of my partner and can't drive at the moment. NO LOYALTY WHATSOEVER.

FOR 52 YEARS nothing but great food and service. Since the daughter has been taking my orders either I am told to ring back as they are too busy to take my order, or she charges me incorrectly or I get sent the wrong food. I never say boo about any of this. WHAT A SHAME she is not a chip off the old block

Further to that, I have never dealt with any management as immature and childish as I recently encountered with the daughter. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THERE THIS YEAR. What kind of management gangs up with their staff to offend good paying customers who are always polite. Perhaps firm but polite. It isn't my fault if their staff are not trained to know one customer from another. Hungarians as a rule are extremely rude (being a half one myself).

Until a formal apology is received I will keep at this until I feel satisfied

Amazing that I was only discussing them with my mother last night in reference to if I could afford it I would eat there everyday.

FEEDBACK IS CRUCIAL AND ANY MANAGER/OWNER WHO TRIES TO STOP KNOWS WITHIN THEMSELVES THAT THEY ARE THE ISSUE

Well, it is a new day and wow after speaking with quite a few people last night it turns out that everyone feels the same way about how they are treated by the daughter. I AM NOT ALONE. GOOD RIDDANCE TWENTY ONE ESPRESSO - I WILL...

Always on the lookout for good Hungarian and Eastern European restaurants, Twenty One came on my radar a little while ago, but living in Brisbane made actually visiting there a bit of a challenge. Fate smiled, and that changed today while visiting Sydney with my sister. It was, in a word, sublime. But I can't write just a one word review 😊

My matzo ball soup entree was perfectly seasoned, and the broth, although rich with flavour was beautifully clear, with golden orbs of schmalz and a matzo ball that needed it's own postcode, really!

We ordered two mains to share, despite a friendly warning that portion sizes were generous. Our first main was a wiener schnitzel, which came with a very smooth mashed potato, and some creamed spinach. The veal was tender with a lovely crisp crumb, and the spinach was delicious and smoky, unlike any I'd had before. Our second main was paprika chicken with nokedli. Oh my word! The gravy was unctuous and bold with paprika flavour (thankfully), the chicken was tender and juicy, and the nokedli had a slight chewiness, exactly how I like them. Incredibly full by this stage, but unwilling to pass up on such appealing desserts, we decided to order some to-go. We ended up with a slice of baked ricotta cheesecake and some cherry and almond or walnuts strudel. We promptly drove to Bondi and ate them overlooking the beach - what an experience!

Having Hungarian grandparents, I have incredibly strong emotional attachment to Hungarian cuisine. I truly couldn't fault our visit today - the food was divine, the clientele were heart-warmingly familiar, overall it was a real treat for me and my...

The most shocking experience at a restaurant in my life! Dreadful!!! I have been a faithful patron for 40 years. I rang today at 4.30pm to make a booking for two. I had brunch with my son earlier today and dinner with a dear friend the day before at the restaurant! Staying at the Savoy hotel on my way overseas tomorrow which is literally next door to the 21

I rang and at 4.30pm asked if I needed to make a booking for 5pm. They said no it’s empty but if you like. I said ok and they said see you soon. My friend and I had dinner at 5pm. and I had just ordered dessert after dinner and the manager came up and aggressively said we had to leave! So suprised I said we just ordered desert. Why?! She said bully style I have seven people coming in now and I told you you had an hour booking. And you have to leave now!!! I said no, that’s not true you never said that and we’re in the middle of dinner! She said I took the booking and I said that. I was horrified at the lies and bullying. You can move to another table ‘if you like’. I was stunned…my friend said…do you want to leave. I said yes I think so! I was completely shocked! Ruined my last night in Australia. I am Australian. I am not okay with being bullied and lied to!

WOW! Just WOw! Not only ruined my night but ruined my 40 year fond patronage of this restaurant for me! I have NEVER been treated like that ina restaurant in my life!!! So shocking!!! Outrageous! It’s the lying and shameful treatment that stings! Especially after spending hundreds of dollars there in the last 24 hours!!! Let alone decades!!! Just Shocking! Totally unacceptable...
