Read moreI attended the Sheaf at the weekend with friends for a birthday, expecting " authentic Eurpoean alpine lodge experience the moment you walk through our doors" as promised on the website.
However, I was informed that there was no snow machine in effect, which was the sole reason I had booked a table for a Saturday night when the place would be packed and noisy, rather than mid week when it would be less crazy. Bistro staff infirmed me they knew nothing of the snow machine which apparenty runs "Friday & Saturday evening when the courtyard comes alive with snow machines ". Bar staff also told me that they knew nothing about operation times of the snow machine, that it 'just goes off randomly at times'.
I was sorely disappointed at the lack of any effort to make the place look vaguely like a ski lodge as the website had insinuated. I saw no "snowy inspired hallway ... booths complete with fur rugs, cushions & blankets for optimum warmth...[or] Courtyard Chairlift".
I love a novelty dress up event. It makes happy to attend things like this and invite my friends, particularly for a special occasion. This has put me off returning to the Sheaf and I have advised others that the theme is not actually themed at all beyond vaguely alpine themed cocktails and a snacks.
The one saving grace from the night was that the food was good (cheese fondue, falafel and mushroom pizza). That and the fact that my friends are a great bunch, whether the themed event lives up to...
Read moreAbsolutely ridiculous behaviour by management and staff. Not only did we have a table booked for a function and we went to the bar at around 7.30 and then all of a sudden people started going to our table. No mention of a time warning no mention from any staff members or manager what was going on. Poor communication skills and poor customer behaviour for everyone one that works there. After that we moved into the main bar area even though we shouldn’t have the communication between staff, managers and technology so poor. We saw they had a juke box available put 2 dollars in, then be met with a security guard telling us that the juxbox even though fully functional, wasn't going to change the song due to the DJ on. I then went to the bar and was talking to what looked like the bar manager on duty her name perceived to be as “maya” told me nothing could be done.
Honestly appalled by the lack of customer service or care at this venue. How you continue to operate with such disrespect and absolute disgust towards customer feedback. Pretending that they aren’t hearing what consumers are saying is not only inconsiderate to the needs of the consumer but also just rude plus inappropriate.!
Sorry to add to this the manager on duty then approached my other friends claiming that she didn't hear me and then she could then give me the refund, this was after i asked for her name. Honestly save your money and go else where or just be careful of awful communication and scam...
