Iâm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the food and coffee was quite nice and very pleasing to look at, albeit a bit overpriced.
When we arrived we were not aware of the sign that said â1 hour seating limitâ, there was a 4 seater table available and they pointed for us to sit at the bench by the window (which we were okay with because thereâs only two of us). The staff was welcoming and I didnât experience a rude attitude or anything like the other reviews. However, as we were working through our two main meals (prawn squid ink pasta & wagyu egg rice with truffle) & coffees, the staff kept removing our plates one by one and hovering near, it made us feel like we should hurry up and leave. Then when I was down to half a cup of coffee, the staff approached us and told us thereâs only 5 minutes left for our seats, and only then told us itâs a one hour seating limit.
I can totally understand the need to have a seating limit as itâs a small space cafe & seems popular so must get quite busy. But we came on a Monday, and the cafe was actually almost empty by the time we ate our mains, there was only 1 or 2 other tables seated when we were told we only had 5 minutes left. And tbh, even if they hadn't mentioned this, I was about to finish my coffee and leave in the next 15 minutes anyway.
I am perplexed by this way of doing business. Wouldnât you want your cafe to have some customers seated as it looks more enticing to other potential customers this way? Why would you effectively kick out customers who have paid over $80 out when your cafe is almost empty?! And why not verbally inform your customers of the seating limit instead of expecting every customer to just know this?
It was disappointing. Iâve not experienced this before even from other popular cafes that have a seating limit and a line waiting outside. The limit is always gently explained before sitting down and it always makes sense in the context as the place would be very obviously busy. But being âkicked outâ of an empty cafe? First time. Especially after...
Read moreAfter years of wanting to visit this place, we finally did. Saturday morning was busy but we were seated right away and the service was quick. We ordered an orange and green juice to kickstart our morning with a healthy drink. Mains we ordered were the squid ink pasta with king prawns and creamy pasta with scallop and prawns.
The squid ink pasta I found was a bit lacking in flavour and it was missing some sauce, although you can get a bit of it from the king prawns that were placed on top of the pasta, that should enhance the taste. The colour on the pasta was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the plating was pretty. Overall if the dish had a bit more sauce it wouldâve been a stand out dish! But donât let my opinion discourage you from trying this dish as everyoneâs palate is different!
The scallops and prawn pasta were creamy with a nice kick to it. The spice wasnât overpowering and it was delicious - It was packed with a lot of flavour but I wouldnât recommend it to those with little-to-no spice tolerance. I wouldâve liked the scallops to have been a bit more seared, however I was seemingly shocked at the size of their scallops, it was huge! To end my thoughts about this, every element of the dish complemented well with each other. It was a heavy dish for me so for those with smaller appetiteâs, come hungry!
I would like to visit this place again to try the other food and drinks listed on their menu.
Staff are welcoming and friendly so I definitely recommend this place to anyone whoâd like great service and try out their nice selection of mixed...
