Unfortunately this missed the mark for us. We waited for 25 minutes for our food to arrive with our toddler, asked a server if they could check (which she said she should), and then waited an additional 20 minutes still with no food. Went up and asked again, only to find out our order hadn't been put through at all.
The frustrating part was, the owner then told us it was because someone new on staff was being trained and that she hadn't put it through (when he's the one who took our order). Even if this was the case, the fact that no one came to check on us for 45 minutes and that the first server didn't in fact check on our order like she said she was, was disappointing.
There were a few other things that didn't sit well with us, including a burning-hot ceramic plate straight from the dishwasher being put directly in front of our toddler, as well as a knife (which could be a really dangerous situation).
Definitely room for improvement here. Hopefully this was a one-off, but really feel that when there's a table with a child, servers should check in if the table has been sitting for 45 minutes without their food.
It wouldn't be fair to omit the fact that the owner did make sure we didn't pay for the drinks we had, and one of the servers offered us a discount on the meal if we still wanted it. We declined the latter and actually had to leave though, because our daughter was really hungry and we didn't want to wait the extra time for the meal and had to have something at home. So we are grateful that the offer was there. Just hope there is some learning that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have just left the restaurant and witnessed a situation I found disgraceful. This morning while waiting for my coffee, I saw the owner speaking with a young lady apparently looking for a job opportunity. He spoke to her in such rude way that I couldnāt help but watch. After a while being absolutely aggressive with the girl, he then told her he wouldnāt be able to hire her cause his restaurant was a local English speaker and he wouldnāt want someone speaking a different language in his premises. I found that absolutely disrespectful as the girl was speaking perfect English with him all along. I am an immigrant Australian citizen living and working in Sydney for the past 10 years and have worked in hospitality industry for a very long time. And fortunately have never came across such treatment and would never accept being treated like that by anyone. As a customer I also do not accept and will not sit just watching this sort of atitude. Definitely will never recommend this place to anyone. Thereās plenty good options around Coogee where the staff and customers are treated the same way as every human...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time I've been to this cafe and I will never be back. I walked in the cafe to make a takeaway order. The man told me I could only order takeaway through the inside window. I walked outside and made my order and gave him my payment (that require change). He then walked over to the barista and told her my order then he proceed to complain about another customer right in front of me. That is very unprofessional and just plain rude. Your customers pay your bills, without them you wouldn't survive. Because he was so invested in complaining to the barista he didn't even offer me my change, instead I watched him put my money right in the till and serve someone else. I just got ripped off. First impression matter and...
