can't say enough good things about Yodaka! This place is an absolute gem, and I feel so fortunate to have discovered it.

From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with the warmest welcome from the family that runs it, who truly make you feel like part of their own. The care and love they put into every dish are evident in every bite, and it's such a refreshing experience in a world where dining can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal. The food at Yodaka is consistently fresh, flavorful, and impeccably prepared. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, from the perfectly seasoned rice to the delicate balance of flavors in their signature dishes. It's clear that they use high-quality ingredients, and nothing ever tastes heavy or overly greasy – everything is light but satisfying. I love how they emphasize traditional Japanese flavors while also incorporating some creative twists, making each meal feel both familiar and exciting. What really sets Yodaka apart, though, is the extra attention to detail. For instance, I’ve never had a meal where they didn’t offer a small complimentary tea or drink to accompany my dish. So happy to find this authentic Japanese restaurant in the Northern Beaches. We ordered the Beef Gyudon, Yakiniku Beef Don, a side of vegetables (Kinpira) and for dessert we ordered the Apple Roll Cake with Matcha Ice Cream! Love how the main meal was served with homemade miso soup. The cake was infused with tea, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. They also gave us a small chocolate chip red bean cookie on the side which was so sweet of them!

The staff were also warm, attentive, and made an effort to share the cultural roots behind each dish. On a hot day, the complimentary Barley Tea was such a thoughtful touch, and we loved the warm green tea served at the end of our meal. These small gestures made the experience even more memorable.

Another highlight is the care and love evident in every aspect of the food preparation. It felt like I was back in Japan.

Can say it’s one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Northern Beaches.
