They do toasted foccacias so delicious and their curried egg sandwich is one of my go to foods when I drive to Hobart early in the morning. Great coffee. I love their gluten free lasagne they have a good selection of gluten free dishes and cakes, vegan, vegetarian meals and sweet treats.cakes too. They will do all they can within reason to ensure you have something to eat that meets your dietary needs. Hamburgers are so filling and chips crispy and freshly cooked to order. Curries made on premises and full of spices herbs yum. Nachos is good, too. They make unique salads (as in not seen all over the place) to have as a meal or side, take home meals are also available. You can have a full meal and not be feeling hungry in an hour as I have at too many cafes. Their scones are great value and make for a perfect devonshire tea If you want an alcohol beverage with your meal you can purchase from their l selection.
Great staff who at times have to deal with not so great humans. (as most hospitality businesses do). It is a beloved Locals place, and the owners are wonderful community supporters. Regulars and staff interactions are real and perhaps some may not find them professional or good but its our local cafe and place we love because the owners have made it so. . Wood fire in winter bliss. The owners love collecting and they enjoy displaying their collections at the cafe. Dog friendly and very popular with local dog groups and owners. Sitting in the laneway that has plants and covered tables along with out door heaters for cooler days. Sunny and you can enter the cafe up some stairs on the...
Read moreWorst experience ever! It all started with ordering a hot beverage and asking at the same time if they had gluten free bread for later, which they had. I then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for my hot beverage. I came back with my vegan boyfriend and we went to order at the counter. Vegan burger for him and GLUTEN FREE beef burger for me. As we sit down the same waitress as before came and asked if I didn't want glutenfree bread and I said yes, on the beef burger please. So the glutenfree bread was mentioned 3 times, still they serve me bread with gluten. I am highly allergic to gluten and asked them to make me a new one. She insisted she asked me and I said no, which obviously I did not, but it was allright because they would make me a new one. Then I overhear them talking from the kitchen, that's across the room, about how I was not telling the truth. So I go talk to them to say that I in fact asked for GF bread three times. I go back to my table again and overhear them talking about just giving me a new bread and I have to tell them that I am highly allergic and need a whole new dish. When they come over with the gluten free burger we apologize for the inconvenience and the waitress says: I did ask you and you said no. I answer that I did in fact say "yes gluten free bread on the beef burger". The waitress growled under her breath and said "heh okay..." This is the most unprofessional customer service I have ever recieved and I don't recommend this place to anyone with dietary needs. The burger I finally got was completely tasteless and I felt so disrespected that I upped and...
Read moreMy partner and I have been here a couple of times for lunch and it's been great! The homemade nachos are to die for and the prices are very reasonable. However, we came in for breakfast this morning to be bitterly disappointed. We ordered scrambled eggs with bacon on sour dough toast - the toast looked like a supermarket-bought brown bread, the eggs were tough and dry (and there wasn't enough to cover the toast), the bacon was a piddly one and a half rashers and it altogether presented awfully. The only thing that saved the meal was the iced green chai, which was lovely. So we've come to the conclusion that this spot is good for lunch but we will never order breakfast again. Quite disappointed. Also, the staff seem bubbly and interesting at first glance, but every time we have been in we have found them severely distracted by the other jobs they're doing while trying to serve you. I found myself telling the guy 3 times what I wanted today simply because he interrupted my order to do something else. Not ideal customer service. When you're taking an order - take the order. Don't fret about what the other staff are doing, don't do that thing you forgot to do earlier, don't freak out about the ipad not working.....you...
