Visited this fantastic restaurant on 8/7/2022 for dinner with my son. Being my second visit here I had a pretty good idea of what was on offer. The ambiance was oozing with an unmistakable Parisian vibe complete with music and the waiters accent. I ordered my usual French Martini and and as entrees we decided to go with the warm freshly baked baguettes with espellette butter and the special of the day fresh oysters. Since we were both quite hungry we also ordered snails in home made vol au cont cases in garlic butter and traditional duck liver pate with house pickles. As mains we went with 12 hr cooked Wagyu beef cheeks in red wine, lardons, baby carrots, potato purée and button mushrooms in jus de cuisson for my son and the special of the day pork chops with cauliflower purée with black truffles for me. All dishes were without fault and tasted exceptionally good. Definitely worth a visit for anyone craving authentic French food.

Let me start by saying how amazing, helpful, kind and lovely Bernard Mallet and his staff are.. I started with a few beers a Kristoffel Trappist from Belgium and a Phoenix Premium from Mauritius. I planned to have the 3 course menu starting with Crêpes aux creve0es (Savoury crêpes with, garlic prawns, chorizo, chilli, & parsley). For the main I had Joues de Boeuf à la Bourguignonne (Slow cooked beef cheeks, red wine, lardons, mushrooms, carrots, truffled potato purée) and my choice for desert Crêpe Suze0e (French crêpes, Grand Marnier syrup & Chef’s ice cream). Bernard suggested a bottle of La Pinede 2018, Domaine du Parc St Charles which was excellent. To finish the night off I had a aged Mauritian rum called Emperor. I would definitely and highly recommend everyone to visit L'isle de France.

Bonjour à tous!! I rarely leave reviews, but this exceptional experience deserves it. We came for dinner as part of my partners birthday celebration. The service was incredible and authentic, Bernard greeted every single table warmly; Fabrice had excellent recommendations for our wine (amazing wine list from small organic producers!), Gaultier was always on top of our service, nothing was rushed, we had great chats and laughs with everyone (Laura, Herve) ! Thank you and big châpeau to chef Jeremy for the incredible food! We adored everything from the lobster to the soufflé to the espelette butter… we are almost convinced to move to terrigal to come more often. Merciiii!

Very disappointing experience from different angles - it was supposed to be a great celebration for my daughter's christening on 8-May 2022 and also celebrating mother's day (my wife and mother) - having spent almost $1000 AUD (7 adults & 2 children) and despite being the biggest table that day there was lack of attention from the restaurant to us (customers).

Note that this feedback was shared to the owner and followed up multiple times, I'm still yet to receive their amendment after more than 2 months.

Customer service: unfortunately there was lack of proactivity and attention from the waiters and waitresses, they seemed too busy doing other things because on many occasions when we needed something or wanted to remind them of what we had been waiting for we had to stand up and even talk/request it at the bar. For example, I asked the waitress for a little piece of bread for our baby (as she was hungry and the food was taking ages) and she responded there was none. Then I asked the 2nd waitress who said she was bringing it from the kitchen but unfortunately never came nor did we get informed anything ... one of the waiters seemed to be annoyed or simply not happy working there as there was no proactivity/attention from him to us. Despite being the largest table in the restaurant there was no customer-focus interest to ask proactively on what was missing or if we needed something else.

Time: the time between serves was too long, we waited more than 25 minutes for the entree and then more than 20 minutes for the main and likewise for the dessert ... I'm counting time from the last person (from us) who finished each set.

Quality: the food was not great, from the entree to the main, unfortunately it was nothing compared to what we had tried before at your restaurant in the past, perhaps you changed chef for that day or did not pay too much attention in the kitchen as there was a set menu 'producing in mass'?

Cost: lunch for 7 and 2 kids for almost $1,000 I was expecting better customer attention, quality in food and staff so do factor this feedback in for your next Mother's Day and other events alike.

Hope this kind feedback helps your restaurant bring more customer and...

Nice view, food was nicely prepared and tasty, however the wine prices were well over the top at $17 for a glass of shiraz, which did not look like it was more than 100 mil, when the standard glass is supposed to be 125 mil. Even if it was 125 mil ( which I doubt ), with 6 standard glasses of wine per bottle, it means they are reaping it in at $102 per bottle, which is a bit stiff. Having been there before and very much enjoyed their meal then, our son and daughter in law, instead of first perusing the wine list, asked for a glass of shiraz each, assuming that the price would be similar to their previous visit, when it must have been a different cheaper shiraz. When we were ordering, my wife asked the waitress whether she could have one of the entrees as a main course ( meaning that it would be the same food but more of it, as entrees are usually only about 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a main, and it was a fixed price menu, 2 courses for $58 ). She was told yes, however when her main arrived, it was only the same size as the same entrees the rest of us had been served. It would appear that the waitress had misunderstood the wife's request and once made aware of it, the owner sorted it quickly by advising the wife that she would receive a second entree sized meal. When he was aware of the fact that it was the daughter in law's, mothers 81st birthday, he also provided mother with a complimentary glass of champagne. Go for the food but drink water, or consult the prices on the wine list before you...

I was here for my birthday last year and had the most amazing meal. We (my boyfriend and I) were just about the only people in the restaurant and so were treated like royalty! I had such a great meal that I couldn’t wait to return... But I had to wait and so eventually as a special treat I asked if we could return for Xmas Eve... as I’d noticed that they had a Xmas eve menu on their website and I’d never been out somewhere fancy for a meal on Xmas eve!

We booked and turned up expecting it to be pretty busy but it was actually rather quiet. Probably only a total of around 5 tables.

Well, the food just didn’t live up to my expectations and I was paying an extra $15 for the wagyu (same dish I’d had the first time), and the meat was actually a tad tough with a fair amount of gristle in it. Not great when the wagyu adds up to almost $33!

We also had to pay a surcharge of 10% due to it being Xmas eve.....

Unfortunately through all this, the owner was sitting down, almost avoiding the patrons. He did have a chat with two of the couples but we were pretty sure it had something to do with them ordering wine, as we didn’t and he didn’t give us the time of day. I think he was super keen to get out of there and get home to his family....

Fair enough! Maybe don’t open on Xmas eve if you can’t be bothered to spend time with the people who are spending big in your restaurant.

(The waitstaff were great, can’t fault them at all.)

This experience left a bad taste in my mouth so I doubt I’m...
