Food: fish quality was nice and sashimi was cut at generous sizes. However I only ordered from the tablet as the sushi laid out on the train wasn't very appetising. The large rolls are a pretty unnecessary item I feel. A lot of the selections felt a bit random and westernised. But if that style is what you like, you would probably like it.
I think the presentation for some of the food was also a little lackluster. If you buy sashimi, it is served on a small wooden box which honestly felt cheap and boring. Of course, this can be expected for a new restaurant. Further, the large selection of sashimi includes tamago (egg), which is not fish? Not sure why you would serve that when the customer is already spending a lot of money for the selection.
Japanese tea tasted good, but the tea came in a cup rather than a pot. I think serving it in a pot will save your staff time for having to go back and forth refilling it. Also, leaving the tea bag in the cup, once again, made the experience feel cheap.
Service: Mostly self serve with not much interaction with staff unless they are giving you the food. The girls who took us to a table however was nice.
Atmosphere: clean and fairly modest, which is about expected for new restaurants. However, my main gripe is that the chairs are very uncomfortable. The seats at the train are all wooden with no cushions, so be weary if you want to spend a long time there.
Another issue I had was that there was no wall display showing the price of the plates. I feel like they expect you to look at the tablet for the prices of certain plates which makes the ordering...
Read moreWe were there during lunch time today at about 12pm. Took 1 plate of big sushi roll for my son (we had been there before) and my son took 1 bite at the edge and told me he saw peanuts on the roll (luckily the part that he bitten into has got no peanuts on top. But he took zyrtec because he said his lip area a bit itchy.) Immediately I called the server to double check and she confirmed that this plate has contained peanuts but on the iPad menu did not state the peanuts. My son has got severe allergies to nuts (anaphylaxis). And the server told me that she can request the chef to prepare the roll for him. To my surprise, I saw the chef made the same sushi roll with nuts on top and using the same gloves to prepare other sushi rolls. Immediately I told my son, stop eating and we pay for the bills. We will never go back there again. Warning to those whose has got allergies, please be aware. I don't normally leave comments but today I am so disappointed of how they don't take nuts...
Read moreWent here on a Sunday night around 6:30 and they were full but we got a table for 4 within 10 minutes. This place does everything well. I normally prefer traditional sushi, simple fish on rice but this is the one place where I order their sushi with sauces because their sauces are so good and well balanced. My favourite is the prawn cheese nigiri and my husband's is the spicy seared salmon nigiri. Their raw salmon quality for price is so worth it. Fatty and fresh, we had like 5 plates plus sashimi. Other favourites are their creamy croquettes and sizzling wagyu beef. They are one of those rare sushi places that you will wanna try all their menu items. Oohh and don't forget to get their...
