The Mad Mexican Thredbo — Restaurant in Thredbo

Very happy with our meals. We enjoyed our choices so much last night that we decided to go back again tonight. Meals came out hot and the ingredients were fresh. After a day of riding, our 17 year old son loved his quesadillas, our 16 year old daughter enjoyed Japanese fried chicken, (she didnt love the pork tacos), my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the crispy cauliflower tacos, the fish tacos, and the calamari special was excellent. Portion sizes are not large but perfect for sharing and plenty of food if you are not really big eaters. Churros were great last night, tonight they were a little over cooked but still yummy with plenty of chocolate sauce. The Orange donuts were good but missing a syrup or sauce…but the chocolate dipping sauce from the churros did the job. We always have a great experience at this place until this yr July 2024 We booked in for taco Tuesday at 6.30 We arrived a little late. We have young children and they were not behaving for on time booking! My phone was out of service so I couldn’t even call ahead to let them know we were going to be late! They said we were 40 mins late! Wrong we were about 20 mins if that!!!!!!! They turned us away with young hungry children at the snow!!! In the cold Lucky the pub up the road was more than accommodating. They also said they called us No that wasn’t the case either WE WERE CHARGED $80 for nothing!!! Not good enough!

Went here for a quick early dinner, walked in and Sat, no staff at the door. After waiting for 20 minutes, I got up to go see if maybe u order at the bar, nope got told to go back to my table and she’ll take my order. Then as I’m mid giving her my order another woman came over and yelled in my face if I had a booking. Turns out they are ‘fully booked’ with no signage or table notes. If I’d be served promptly, maybe I’d have eaten my $35 enchilada before. I would’ve thought the owner would want to squeeze covers in. Not sit at 20-30% pax.
