Urban Grounds Cafe — Restaurant in Toowoomba City

Food was fantastic Compliments to the chef(s) Unfortunately the service was less than expected. 20 mins wait after being seated for drinks. Meals were literally dropped and clunked on the table after another long wait.

2nd drinks orders were placed half way through the main course and arrived after we had ordered dessert.(that my husband had to go and find someone to order from)

No specials were read to us.. My husband was called, "Mate, buddy, champ" when ordering.. Perhaps Toowoomba fine dining has forgotten the words "sir & madam"....

My dessert was a deconstructed apple crumble(which is amazing) However it was banged on the table so hard the table nearly became deconstructed. And it was described as:

"Heres ya apple crumble" , or decontructed or whatever apple crumble".....

We paid with $100 notes only to be asked if we'd had a win at the casino.

The atmosphere was lovely and the kitchen staff were obviously very well trained. There were some very friendly professional staff, however management should really be doing some retraining asap.

Great service can make a bad meal taste good.... Bad service can really leave a bad taste...

I would go back if the chefs...

Really hoping I'm not penalised for my review. Visited this venue last weekend for the first time and wasn't completely blown away. I called beforehand and asked if I needed a booking if I arrived in the next 30 minutes- was told no. Arrived 33 minutes later and was told they're fully booked, I explained that I just called and was told I didn't need to. Luckily for us we managed to get a table for 2. We ordered our meals and drinks, drinks came out about after about 25 mins(waiting whilst it's busy is completely fine so that's not my issue) My meal came out approx 30 mins after we ordered and was told the second meal would be out soon (again, this is fine) so I ate my meal.15 mins later our second meal hadn't arrived so I asked. Our second meal was completely missed which was quite annoying but it happens. 5 mins later the second meal that was rushed arrived and was quite underwhelming... Would I come back? I'm unsure... apart from the booking incident and then missed meal, it was an overall nice time and I'd consider going back. Staff were nice also :)

Quite disappointed with the last visit to urban grounds, Firstly, when we inquired about why its extra to have your eggs scrambled in the “eggs your way” and was told it’s because you get more egg…eggs your way should include every way and not cost an extra $2.50, only place I’ve ever seen do this. Secondly, we had ordered a mango smoothie that didn’t taste like mango or anything nice for that matter so when we asked to return it for something else we were told that we would still be charged because it’s not their fault we didn’t like it, we would’ve like it if it was made properly! ($10.90 for the smoothie btw) Thirdly, we ordered the beef smash burger and the patty was raw, we didn’t even bother asking about it because we had gotten so much attitude at that point. Lastly, we were charged for the smoothie anyway even though they didn’t even give it back Absolutely ridiculous, use to love going either before or after going to the park, won’t bother...
