I dislike providing negative reviews but had to share our experience here over Easter given it is similar to that experienced by some others. Given a number have left good reviews we may have just gone on a really bad night?? Firstly, we had difficulty finding Vineets as it is not signed well from the street at night (suggestion to get passing trade from the highway). Once we entered, we were motioned to the table after waiting quite some time; there were five tables with couples or groups of four occupied at that time, so it was not busy. The dining area looked clean. We ordered chilli chicken and the vegetarian pumpkin curry. The waitress was unable to answer any questions around the dishes and seemed lost so we took a punt in the ordering. Approximately one hour and twenty mins later our meals finally arrived. Before the meals arrived, we were talking to another couple who were in the same boat as us; they had been waiting ages for food and drinks and like us were thinking of leaving. We decided to stay as it was late and we had been waiting so long already. Once the food arrived, we started eating and found the food a real mixed bag. The chilli chicken was very good but the pumpkin curry tasted not good and was really oily. The raita was also not good but the naans and rice were good. We asked for desert after but they were out of the choices we asked for and the waitress said they didn't have tea so we just left. Not a good experience for us and others in the...
Read moreI've lived in Torquay most of my life, seen Indian restaurants come and go, but finally an Indian restaurant that delivers on flavour, quality, and is generous in serving size. Had takeaway from there for the first time tonight, and it's been a long time since I've enjoyed Indian like this one. Chatted to the owner who cooked our food in the open kitchen which was very clean, lovely guy. We had the Beef Vindaloo which was nice and spicy without tasting like someone just heated it up by adding chilli powder, with quality tender cuts of beef, and plenty of them. The Butter Chicken was as good as I've tasted in many countries, again with plenty of chicken, and not just gravy. You can always benchmark with these two classic dishes.
I could go on with the other dishes, but why bother? This is the best Indian in Torquay hands down.. fellow locals, get on board and support this little Indian joint, it's well worth it. My taste buds are...
Read moreFamily of 5 on holiday went for dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The service was amazing and friendly. Starting with our drinks, the mango lassi was delicious, a must have when we have Indian. Then we received our starters, the mix sizzling platter and the lamb chops. Both dishes was plenty for the 5 of us. The Samoas and the sauce they arrived in were to die for, the flavours were beautiful and it just melts in your mouth. We all got a different dish and each one was delicious and fresh. I loved the King Prawn Malai, perfectly cooked prawns and the cashew sauce so tasty. Kids got lamb biryanis and a chicken biryani dish they are not much for spicy but they said it was really yummy and added raita (cucumber yoghurt mix) for the heat. We also had a lamb vindaloo (hot) and lamb korma ( medium) both beautiful, melt in your mouth lamb and the heat was as asked for. Could not recommend Malta enough. Thankyou so much for a...
