We were in Torquay.. just one night... my Mum and I wanted a yummy breakfast so I googled the best place in Torquay to have breakfast - Sticks and Stones Torquay came as number one - so we made our 4 - minute drive to the cafe/ restaurant - it's a family business for the last 8 years - Mum, Dad, Adult Son, and Adult daughter - we were greeted by a friendly wait staff - I asked could we have a table as it's a bit tricky for my Mum to climb up on stools - none were available at the time - the son immediately leapt into action making a table up for the two of us - Mum ordered Eggs Benedict with bacon - I ordered Eggs Benedict with ham and a side serve of mushrooms đ and tomatoes đ . Mum had a skinny flat white and I had an extra hot cappuccino. Both our meals were timely and scrumptious đ . I stopped having Eggs Benedict as I was sick and tired of being presented with a bottle of hollandaise poured over my egg and hard sourdough bread which I'm so OVER IT ... to my surprise- the Eggs Benedict was served on a muffin ( the way it's meant to but rarely is) , the poached Eggs were cooked to perfection, the hollandaise sauce was housemade and made to perfection, the tomatoes đ were flavoursome and the mushrooms were plump and tasted like they had just been picked. I'm super fussy with my cappuccino and it was delicious and hot đ.. when we left the Dad( owner) gave both my Mum and I a pen with Sticks and Stones to remember our experience. I highly recommend this fabulous family Cafe- we will be back next time in Torquay! Very...
Read moreSticks and Stones in Torquay, Melbourne, left me thoroughly disappointed. The cafe's pretentious atmosphere overshadowed any potential enjoyment. The staff seemed more interested in cultivating an image of exclusivity than providing genuine customer service. The menu, boasting trendy ingredients, failed to deliver on flavor, leaving me with a sense of culinary letdown.
The cafe's decor, attempting an avant-garde aesthetic with mismatched furniture and abstract art, ended up feeling forced and uncomfortable. The cacophony of clashing design elements only added to the overall lack of cohesion. My experience was marred by the evident lack of cleanliness, with tables and utensils appearing hastily wiped at best.
To make matters worse, the prices were exorbitant for the mediocre fare presented. It felt like paying a premium for the privilege of being underwhelmed. Sticks and Stones in Torquay may appeal to those who prioritize style over substance, but for those seeking a genuine dining experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere in Melbourne's vibrant culinary scene. To top it off they didnât clean the table and it...
Read moreI rarely give cafes 5 stars but this cafe has ticked it all for me! I had the lamb burger which was superb. The Lamb patty accompanied with sweet chilli aioli, lettuce, tomato and American cheese in a light crispy bun hit all the right notes. The artful well thought-out fresh and modern decor in a laid back spacious space was love at first sight. There is nothing quite like fresh flowers (liliums) at every table to lift my spirit. The large glass windows all down one side of the cafe contributed to the sense of spaciousness. There is indoor as well as outdoor dining available. High chairs make little bubbas welcome. This cafe would be suitable for individuals, couples, families and groups. Friendly staff also add to a positive experience. No wonder this cafe has won so many awards. May this cafe live long...
