Is there a bowlo anywhere that's "ok"? In my experience, some are as tragic as 2010 fashion. But many have gotten the message; people eat..even the ones that play the pokies...well, less, but eventually they eat. The bloke rattling the pans here used to be at Bannisters. That's the equivalent of seeing a band because one of the group used to play with kesha; it guarantees a little, but don't start tapping your feet til the band starts. Here, the menu reads well; not super adventurous, but enough interest to keep me reading, and make me think about what to choose. The kitchen produces the goods quicker than expected, and the quality is pretty good. The pasta is a touch overcooked, but not beyond acceptable. The beef cheeks are well prepared, though I don't recall seeing any parmesan. The other pasta is also up to par. The bread works, and the carrots good. All the fancy places in the area are booked as solid as a vaccination clinic in a pandemic. You can always get in here, and get well fed for a fair price. And the schooners of...
Read moreIf you are in the area and looking for a place to eat - put this place on your list. Came to The Greens Brasserie for dinner mid-October. Was expecting a basic club-style meal but this place greatly exceeded my expectations. The food was - in a word - superb. The staff were friendly and professional. The menu is not 20 pages for which I am grateful. They had a choice of 4 smalls, 8 mains, some sides and what they have, they do extremely well. The braised beef cheeks with cauliflower puree, red wine and sherry sauce was tender and rich and full of flavourful goodness. My chocolate mousse tart with dark chocolate crumb, vanilla anglaise and raspberry sorbet was soooo good. The flavours were amazing... We were a group of 10 (adults and children), had a last minute booking and were treated to excellent food and great service. Thanks for a...
Read moreThe atmosphere was great and the club is beautiful but the food was disappointing.
We ordered the duck spring rolls, the salt, pepper & chilli squid and the combination short soup, these were incredible.
Unfortunately this was ruined by the over priced and horrendous $40 Beef and Reef.
The steak was cold, tough and with the smallest 3 prawns on top. The menu advertised bearnaise sauce and the meal was served without it and to charge an additional $3 for the smallest scoop of mashed potato I have ever seen is outrageous.
I will say the Chinese meals being served looked incredible and I would recommend trying those instead next time.
Super disappointing. Only giving 2 stars because of...
