Have been to DC cafe a few times, today was the worst in regards to service. Walked in the front door and stood there and waited to be acknowledged but of course like the other times it took a while, to be fair there was a fair few people in there ,the staff was the owner and his son. His son was at the counter with two customers, obviously having issues with something and the owner was in cooking. Once the owner had finished cooking and taking the food out to some customers he sort of acknowledged us and said you can sit anywhere!! So we went around the corner to check to see if there was any tables . There were a couple of clear tables and one had plates on it . It to took us a minute to register it was quite full so we're about to go to the other side when the owner came in and decided to go to the table that was dirty he picked up the plates went into the kitchen and basically threw them into the sink and we could hear her this from the dining area as he went past he hissed "sit wherever you want!!" in a tone no owner should talk to any prospective customers. Trying to make small talk to lighten the situation a bit I said missing a few staff today! Owner replied "NO" very bluntly. We sat down at the table and just felt like we were a hindrance and not welcome. The owner kept on bang around like he was not having a good day. Don't get me wrong we had a Christmas there a couple of year's ago and it was lovely but ever since then you hardly get acknowledged, staff seem to be turned over at a rapid rate. So as a person that goes out a fair bit for brunch I'm done with DC cafe the owner is rude. I really don't know how he gets all the positive reviews. Much better cafes in town with much...
Read moreWent in for a nice breakfast at a local cafe, ordered a big breakfast with poached eggs, bacon, hash-brown, etc. as well as a mocha (which had no chocolate in it, just coffee). Receive the meal, all fine, looks good, until I break open one of the eggs and 50-60% of the egg white is transparent and my fork just slides straight through it, extremely raw. One staff member comes over and asks how the meals are, I tell them about the extremely raw egg and show him how my fork slides through it, he apologized and asked if I wanted the egg replaced (which of course I denied because I didn't want another raw egg). So he decides to give us a coffee card, which after I BUY another coffee, I get the next one free.....not, 'Sorry, I'll get the meal replaced right away!' or, 'Sorry! I'll get you a discount on the meal'. No....a coffee card which is required to buy a coffee first before getting a free one???? Then ANOTHER staff member comes over asking how the meals were, I let her know as well what was wrong and show her the pile of transparent egg whites, which she responds, 'Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate any good or bad feedback!' and proceeded to walk away....disgraceful. No concern for customers, especially with something so touchy as raw eggs which can make someone...
Read moreOur first visit the Seafood platter was well cooked and absolutely yummy service was a bit not so good but they were busy and we didn't book. So today we booked and the service was less than friendly, bordering on rude, but we ordered Duck spring rolls which arrived well and truly over cooked. Then there was the chicken nachos. Well the first lot was so over done that half of the corn chips were quite literally black. The couple at the next table were urging us to return them and we did the female staff member was just plain rude. The second Nachos were only marginally better and the one female staff member was very wasn't rude but no one apologised for the burnt meal and we felt like we shouldn't have asked for a replacement meal. I wish I had taken photos but we were just stunned that someone would even consider burnt black corn chips was acceptable and for the record while we were 2 other customers asked for replacement meals. Tha atmosphere in the Cafe today was ugly and stressed and at this point we aren't able to consider returning or recommending the Dalton...
