I'm not normally a person to review. This restaurant was a must when we came here. Addmittle enough it has been over 10 years. I was so delighted to see it still running Obviously the previous owners are sadly missed. I phoned 3 times to make a take out order. The young lady was very hard to hear. I was switched to 3 different people and hung up on. I was frustrated so l rang a 4th time and asked if they want my order or not. To be told they couldn't hear ME. SO l order 3 chicken and prawn sping roles. They yet herd that fine ...never again.. Then l ordered chicken @vegi fried rice yum yum yum ... But where we the vegetables. Then l also order a chicken dish that apparently had water chestnuts and heap of mushroom and veggies. I received a meal l don't know how to describe it was full of quarter size onions... No mushrooms or veggies definably no water chest nuts. It had heap of peanuts ontop and l was not asked if l wanted them cause some people are allergic. Lucky for me lm not. But don't like peanuts on a main meal. That was discusting. It's been since 2016. We have been here and it was the top restaurant to go to. Now they have changed from Chinese to Tai and l only have one nice thing l enjoyed which is the chicken @vegi fried rice. Everything else was discusting. Never going back. I wasted $15 on taxi plus $6 for 3 scrauny spring rolls plus what ever else the dish l had that was supposed to be full of water chest nut ...but not one to be found . Heaps of mushrooms but not one to be found. Not...
Read moreI had a friend visit town and we decided we would go out and celebrate at a restaurant. It's not something that I do very often. So when I do to go to a restaurant I'm really hoping that the food will be good then the service will be good and the atmosphere will be good. When we visited the red orchid, we were graded with a smile. There's nothing like a friendly atmosphere people to make you feel like you're at home to make you feel welcome. We decided to sit outside which was really nice. The young gentleman who served us was very friendly and you can tell that it wasn't just make believe he was just friendly by nature. What we were very impressed with was the entree for $12.50 which gives you four different foods of different variety to eat. Now these were definitely homemade. They weren't shop bought items. The taste was unbelievable. The freshness was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed them. For main meals we had the barramundi and prawns and also a fried duck dish and also some fried rice. I had a Coca-Cola and my friend had a red wine overlooking the park and the ocean. It was a beautiful place. We really enjoyed our time here and want to thank the red orchid for not only having good food but for being friendly and making us...
Read moreA one star is generous, particularly in relation to the service. As the restaurant was busy when we entered I asked what the wait time for a take away would be to be told 10 mi utes. As this was more than reasonable we proceeded to order only to be told after we had paid that the wait would now be 30 minutes. We left the shop and returned half an hour later only to be advised that our order was still in line to be cooked. I sat and waited...and waited...enquired of the poor young man who was becoming flustered, how much longer, was told it would be soon, waited longer and longer until we decided after an hour that we would cancel our order. Our meal arrived at this time however the owner was rude, unapologetic and full of excuses about how busy they were. I reminded her that is why I asked of the wait time to begin with. The food...bland, cold and certainly one of the worst Thai meals I have eaten. But it was the poor service that really let this place down. I will not...
