This is the second time we have been there. We went a couple of months ago for the first time. When we arrived I went inside looking for menu's as we were eating outside. There was no greeting the women on the till just yelled to line up from a distance. I still walked up ahead of the line and asked for menu's. It was busy so I ignored the rudness. The price of the food was fair and that day the food was really good, but it just felt rushed and unwelcoming. Yesterday we went back and as it was cold we went inside. Again very unwelcome woman on the till who did not greet us. I had to look for menu's. When I ordered the food at the counter with the same rude woman on the till and asked why it was so much more expensive, she pointed to a small sign that said 15% surchard on public holidays and abruptly put the docket in front of me. If she had have told me nicely about the surcharge I would've been fine with it, but instead I felt resentment and said we won't be back on a public holiday. I then proceeded to let her know that I had come from Salisbury to spend time with my grandson who is living in Victor Harbour and she totally ignored me. She could have said welcome and enjoy your meal. When we received our meal my adult grandson ordered a chicken burger which came with fries. The burger was tastless and looked like a children's serve. We were both shocked. The price for the burger is $21.90. I ordered a chicken and prawn laska which was OK, but was served in a large bowl without a lip on the bowl and not sitting on a plate, so the waiter's hand was touching the top of the bowl that I'm eating from. Not only the waitress that served us, but another older man working there picked up the bowl and took it back to the kitchen as the garnish was missing and then returned the bowl in the same manner. The whole service was very unhygienic. Who wants people fingers touching the top of the bowl you're about to eat from. The whole experience was like a fast food Cafe and we won't...
Read moreThis rating purely reflects customer service. Food was great, so thanks to kitchen staff. Easter Saturday, we (3 Indian Australian families) went in for lunch. After an initial argument with the middle aged male staff regarding seating arrangements, he graciously let us sit inside by adding 2 extra chairs to the intended table. Then asked us to wait near the door, all fair. It was just the way that this guy spoke . Talking slower than usual I thought so that we could possibly understand his language, haha. I kept staring at him while he EXPLAINED- "I am not being rude, just explaining the rules". My thought on this is- if you think your have to explain the behavior this way, then maybe you are being rude. We then sat down. I went to order a burger and requested the young woman if it was possible for kitchen to cut it in half as I was sharing with my husband. Unexpectedly, she literally snapped - "you will have a knife, cut it yourself". Shocked at that, I just asked for an extra plate and left the counter. We should have just walked out of this place but the children were hungry and settled. No one offered any water or even informed us where it was. Food came out and after that the middle aged guy came back and reached over my friend's head to pick up the menus- COVID Rules?? Horrible service. I just want to inform to such people that the world has changed around them. Every adult in our group(male and female) were qualified Engineers, Accountants and HR Executives, working in responsible positions in Adelaide. I manage 2 psychology and Therapy practices and am well versed with Covid rules. I could list a few that were violated that day. Anyways, just want to document my experience. It was otherwise a fantastic day and every other place we visited at Victor Harbour had amazing hospitality. CAFE PRIMO, Victor Harbour- GET YOUR...
Read moreWent inside with hopes of having a decent dinner with friends but the welcome and the overall "vibe" we received from the waiting staff at this place was bitter and cold. Was waiting to be shown where we're supposed to sit but none of the waiting staff bothered (or cared...) to attend to us and acted as if we were invisible! (we were a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers, so little hard to go unnoticed). Waiting staff, particularly the most senior/oldest one from the lot, was acting as if we were a nuisance and was blatantly giving us the cold shoulder from the moment we walked in. I then walked towards a corner table as I thought it would fit our setup and the situation at that time (two hungry toddlers), when I heard a loud, arrogant "EXCUSE ME..." from the front end of the cafe. I turned towards there see what's going on and the same senior waiting staff, in a loud, agitated and cold tone, said "THAT TABLE IS RESERVED!! YOUR TABLE IS HERE" while pointing at a table at the front. The point none of the waiting staff told where we were supposed to sit in the first place added some sourness to our evening, was willing to let that pass because we had two hungry toddlers to deal with but the overall behaviour and the tone used by that particular waiting staff (the oldest) made us walk out of the cafe! Maybe he didn't like the way I walked inside the cafe to choose a table for us to sit and have a quiet dinner.
I'm willing to accept such shortfalls if the cafe was busy and all the staff were occupied but only few tables were busy and was very quiet at that time. That wasn't the welcome one would expect from a cafe, let alone a restaurant, in Victor Harbor, which is a prominent tourist destination in South Australia. Very, VERY...
