You should never try to revisit fond memories. We arrived for dinner and were warmly greeted & shown to our table. Our drinks & food orders were taken promptly & our cocktails arrived. Sitting enjoying looking out on the magical lights of the lake when hubby says "what's that stuck on the perspex wall behind you?" It was food, that was our warning. Apparently the kitchen wait staff only DELIVER food to the table nothing else. They don't clear empty plates or take drink orders, that seems to be the job of the restaurant staff who were more interested in preping the restaurant for tomorrow than attending to the guests that were seated. We weren't asked about wine when our entrees arrived so when we'd sat for an hour with empty entree plates in front of us and empty glasses hubby went to the bar & asked for the bottle of wine we wanted, nothing happened. After 10 to 15 mins I asked the kitchen waitress to take our wine order & she went to the bar, leaving our empty entree plates in front of us as well as our empty glasses. A few minutes later our wine arrived in a wine cooler, lid on, left on the table, apparently he was too busy to pour our wine. Thankfully he took our empty plates finally. We ordered salt & pepper calamari with a Rosa sauce which hubby said was delicious but my oven baked scallops were hard rubber balls, disappointing. Mains arrived, hubby loved his prawn linguine but it did look like the pictureon this web site, more like it had been hastily chucked into the bowl. I chose a main size of the salt & pepper calamari. The calamari was again cooked perfectly but there was insufficient Rosa sauce for a main & the green leaves on the side were undressed. I ordered a Greek salad to accompany it & unfortunately it had lost its sparkle along with the staff having been preped for the lunch sitting. New York cheesecake tempted us for dessert, I nearly broke the plate trying to cut through the too thick base & the cheesecake filling was dry & chalky. The little waitress trying to salvage our night was terrific. She even took the cheesecake back to the kitchen as she noticed that there were no berries on the side. It came back with a very sad strawberry that had seen better days. My hubby did take umbridge at their policy we couldn't take the third of a bottle of our $50 wine home. That's when they threw Jo to the lions & she handled the situation professionally & with tact. If you're going to be open for lunch & dinner, Mothers day or not, both sittings are paying for the same quality of food & service. We were disappointed Boat Shed. Ambience doesn't make up for poor service. Jo was the only reason I rated your service...
Read moreYesterday (Sunday ) I attend for my father’s birthday to celebrate . The sign shows it’s dog friendly . We have a toy poodle in a basket not hidden or covered . It was open and shown please stop lying it’s not hidden . Asked three waitress if it’s ok she next to us at the table. So all good . We order our meal . Then there was an older waitress came (did not see at arrival) however myself 25 year experience in hospitality, Former Cafe owner. All rounder cafe , bakery . Deliveries. I have never seen a waitress “command” us to move . Which she never thought carefully not to divide our family. Which three of moved to the “dog room “ a very cold room . After my lunch . I decided to approach to the waitress by explaining my family is Deaf. You failed to communicate. And treat customer first before yourself . Remember you’re a waitress . waitress means to serve. You were not aware that we were Deaf. I asked you to apologise my wife for offending and bad service for my wife . But you forgot one thing my wife is DEAF. Did you not learn how to communicate. I’m not interpetering the information for you. You had to learn to how to communicate with a Deaf customer. “Customer is always right” do not argue or fight back or command customers . Learn to do it nicely. About toy poodle they don’t give allergic to people . I’ve been going over and over again about “occupational health and safety”. No one is professional in that position. Unless it’s ONLY about food handling , hygiene and cleanness . Nothing to do with dogs . Unless their hair falls out . No one raise the alarm . There was no danger . There was no drama . Until that Older waitress made the drama. . And DIVIDE our family. I’m afraid I will not come again after over 10 visit . I’ve learnt that the boat shed has a dark atmosphere. Wendouree means go away .having a restaurant on a black swamp is not ideal or a good element environment . DO NOT DIVIDE a family to another room every again. I was very fortunate that 2 young waitress was very soft. Do not tell me you’re a hard worker. So am I . I work 52-60 hours a week. there is two different world Deaf and the Hearing. so you don’t need to take the apologise from my Hearing family. they don’t know what I’m trying to say. so at the end you’re older waitress did not listen to me and did not let me finish the talking to learn how to deal with Deaf customer and communicate is the key. not by Talking. learn to sign. learn to write. not blah blah. we won’t get the information. watch Fawlty Towers the TV show. then you can learn from...
