I recently had the pleasure of visiting the City Oval Hotel and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home.

The first thing that caught my attention was the incredible renovation that has been done to the pub. The place looks absolutely stunning, with a perfect blend of modern design and classic charm. The attention to detail is evident in every corner, from the stylish furniture to the tasteful decor.

But it's not just the aesthetics that impressed me - the food at the City Oval Pub is simply outstanding. Hats off to Paddy, Eloise, Danni and Dave and their attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a memorable dining experience. The venue is s well thought out space, with restaurant, bar and outdoor areas well thought out. The locals seem to really enjoy the venue and come in droves for the good priced drinks and food. I had booked a table at 5:30pm for my mother's birthday, but we came for a pre-dinner drink around 4:45pm. The staff at the bar were instantly welcoming and very helpful. After being seated for dinner, the wait staff were very accommodating and attentive, giving us time to order, but also checking on us at timely moments throughout our meals. Meals and drinks are very reasonably priced, especially for the quality, and all meals were fantastic. I give a big thumbs up to all the staff, as everyone we had contact with were very polite and helpful, and the kitchen staff really know what quality is. I'd like to thank everyone of the staff for a fantastic experience, but I do have one bad point, as they don't accept tips! And being an ex hospitality manager of 20 years, I feel that they all deserved a nice bonus for their attention to service and detail! I will definitely be back and so will...

We had 8 people dining, 4 of us shared the highly recommended seafood platter and seriously do not waste your money on it $99 for 4 oysters 2 cooked prawns, 4 more prawns in spiral potatoes, 2 more prawns on skewers with 2 scollops, and 2 bits of fish with bloody chips. Chips do not belong on a seafood platter! where was the creativity? If I wanted 99 dollars worth of prawns I would have got 5kg of them at the fisho! So ripped off!

The gnocchi was like someone tipped a can of crushed tomatoes over the top of the gnocchi, it was bland, not seasoned, no herbs, wine or any levels of flavour in the sauce at all! It was returned to the kitchen as it was all flour floating in the sauce. We were offered another dish but refused then weren't offered a refund 👎

Waiting staff and bar staff were great however the bar patrons were extremely loud and overpowering in the dining room as they are not seperate rooms.
