We had dinner last night, at the Lakeview Hotel, to celebrate a family member's birthday. The venue may be abiding by the current restrictions on numbers of diners, however the main dining room seemed to be filled to capacity, which was concerning to us given Victoria has only just come out of lockdown and there are still restrictions on numbers at dining in venues. We were required to wear masks into the venue and permitted to remove them once seated. We were required to "sign in" to the venue, and were required to remain seated at our table with staff providing table service. If we needed to leave the table we needed to wear a mask. Eg if we needed to go to the restroom. There were 17 in our party, on 2 tables. Our orders were taken soon after we were seated, however It was quite a long wait before our meals arrived at the table. Overall we all enjoyed our meals when did finally get them. I ordered the Roast pumpkin, rocket & walnut salad with calamari. Apart from approximately 6 generous sized pieces of very tender calamari, my bowl was largely full of rocket, which my fellow diners noticed and commented on. This meant I had to search for the few other components of my salad, and had to leave the potato rosti at the bottom of the bowl as it was very greasy. The two staff who waited on us were very pleasant and obliging, including being happy to provide small plates and a knife to serve the birthday cake which was baked by the mum of the birthday girl. Finally, although the menu offers a large choice of reasonably priced meals, I would recommend a more professionally menu be prepared. Quite a few of us had difficulty reading parts of the current one due to poor quality printing. It was a very cold, wet night in Ballarat. One of those winter nights when many people would prefer to stay at home instead of venturing out into the cold night. I have to congratulate the Lakeview for proving a warm, cosy and welcoming venue for people to enjoy a meal with family...
Read moreLake View is nice without being spectacular. It enjoys a beautiful location on the lake, and is complimented by a fitout that adds a little bit. The booth seats however, are damaged and ripped which is a pity as it is really the only downside to the enterior. I've previously had lunch here and it hit the spot, Chicken Parma was good but there was no dare in it, no homemade Napoli, no special artisan ham and the chicken, I would dare say just purchased and no 'homemade-ness' about it. On the most recent occasion I had breakfast (but I did opt for a lunch item, which is great that you can do that at that time of day), a chicken and Avo toastie. I thought it was a safe bet but the chicken tasted stale, there was no oomph in the toastie, it was bland and even the Avocado lacked any flavour ( I certainly wouldn't be eating that avocado everyday in lieu of buying a house). The breakfast-lunch was, well, filling, it wasn't fullfilling though!! The reason I give 4/5 is because they try, their efforts are continuing and whilst maybe the Chef has lost his/her desire/flare/creativity/tastebuds, the establishment keeps its desire to be better. Time will tell with this place and I will return. No expectations. No belief it will be better. No better off. ALL RATINGS OUT OF 5 💲💲💲 🍛🍛...
Read moreWorst & Arrogant owner! First experienced go there, will never come back. Food was good. Service is terrible, not all the staff. Only 1 service staff & the owner that ruin everything. Was busy day, can see that they are under staff. Some advice: close some section if you can’t manage the whole venue. Please don’t let the owner talk to customers, worst respond ever! I & my friends work in hospitality industry and we knew how it operate. We didn’t complaint for the time we have to wait for our food & drinks to arrive. But the respond from the service staff & owner were ridiculous. Just asking for share plates, the respond is “I have millions things to do, you can grab it yourself”. We can take it ourself, but we don’t need the attitude. Pass the issue to the owner, the respond: “Look around, we are busy & not enough staff”. Oh well, to be honest, it’s not our problem. Shouldn’t open whole venue if you couldn’t handle it. For the other owner, I wish you good luck. You should do something for all the comments on the review. For the lovely service staff who came and apologized on behalf of those ppl, you are super star. And it’s not your fault, we wont take the apologies from you. But thank you very much instead to check on us. You are...
