A Diamond of the West: Born & Bread Bakehouse in Geelong West Dearest readers, With great thrill and excitement, i pen this review, for many years after enduring the relentless routine that whisked me away from Melbourne’s charming enclaves—those havens of the most delectable pastries—I have unearthed a true gem merely a stone’s throw away from where I toil: Born and Bread in Geelong West. Here, one finds a veritable treasure trove of baked wonders, from bread to buns and scrolls and rolls and viennoiserie and pâtisserie- none of which I could possibly refuse. But allow me to extol the virtues of my personal favorite: the pecan sticky bun. Imagine, if you will, a love child born of a cinnamon roll and a kouign amann (or maybe croissant!). Now imagine that child again- going through life both having received a fine education at a French boarding school before embarking on a prestigious career in patisserie. It may sound like a fanciful exaggeration, but I implore you—make the journey to Geelong, indulge in a coffee, and let this flaky marvel weave its tale as the hidden pastry cream cascades luxuriously upon your palate. And rest assured, dear readers, there is no cloying cream cheese frosting to mar this masterpiece. Instead, it is adorned with candied pecans, while the heart reveals a symphony of magical vanilla pastry cream and crunchy pecans, culminating in a delicious ménage à trois your taste buds have long deserved. Yours in delightful indulgence, jblanx

Initiation – Okay, mind-blowingly gorgeous, memorable food experience 🤯✨ Listen up food lovers 🍴—this place is awesome! Googled best pastry shops in the area and boom 💥 Born and Bread Bakehouse came up at the top. Story – It opens at 8:00 AM ⏰ Just for fun, I went there at 7:45 AM 🤭 And what do you know? Already people were queuing up to get their treaties 🥐👀 Vibe – The line moves up so fast 💨 The service and staff are excellent 🙌 They assist you and explain what all the items are 👏 It’s got a really good, morning French classy vibe 🇫🇷✨ Omg the way they’ve displayed the pastries, breads, and cakes is truly aesthetic 😍 This is a mini weekend food heaven 😇🍰 So I bought 6 items and a coffee ☕ • A muffin 🧁 • A ham cheese croissant 🥐🧀 • A yoyo biscuity cookie sandwich thing 🍪 • An éclair 🍫 • A cheese pretzel 🥨 • A vanilla cream pâtissière-filled pecan pastry 🥧 • And an almond mocha ☕🌰 Ps- you’ll come here for a coffee and a croissant, but end up buying 5+ Cost me $49 – I’d say that’s super reasonable for 7 items 💸 Not to mention, they are huge pastries 😍 And the quality of the coffee and chocolate was great 💯 I’m super satisfied with every purchase 🥹💖 Every pastry tasted unique and delicious in its own way 🍓🍫🍯 Definitely worth checking this place out! What a great gem in Geelong 💎 Well done team 👏👏👏

After three years of wearing braces, I wanted nothing more than to chomp into some fresh, crusty bread, so I came here (my ortho had mentioned it as she was removing the metal... thanks, Clara). And, folks, I was not disappointed! My recently freed teeth thoroughly enjoyed the Rye Spelt. I wanted to buy more, so much more -and I will!- but I kept to my humble goal of fresh, crusty bread. My eye and camera definitely loved the other breads, and the pastries and sweet ones. By the way, I got a coffee too. And it has to be said: The flat white I ordered turned out to be... a flat white; unbeluevably, other places cannot, will not do this (youll likely get a froffy latte). Wild, hey. The place was busy but orderly and staff were efficient and calm. All great signs that Born & Bread is managed well. Spoiler alert: that loaf of Rye Spelt was finished by the end of the day!

A cute little bakery that is aesthetically beautiful to the eye when you walk in. With a wide selection of bread on display, its hard to not fall in love with the place.

Staff were super friendly and vibrant, making the atmosphere really warming and welcoming, which is particularly what you need in the morning!

Cappuccino I ordered was well tempered and the milk was smooth and creamy. Rich robust flavours from the espresso and nice bitter notes from the cocoa powder.

With so many selections, I opted for the harissa cauliflower danish heated up. I think it would have been better if I had it room temperature, as heating it up did make it rather oily. That being said, it had a nice kick to it and some spiciness. The pastry was flakey yet crispy on the outside, and the filling was delightful. Would love to come back and try their regular croissant to get the full experience!

Also got a panini loaf to go, and definitely delicious when you make a panini sandwich. Soft and spongey/ airy, but when pressed gives it a nice...
