I recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming little cafe that offers a unique culinary experience with Ethiopian cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed like an old friend by the incredibly kind owner, who goes above and beyond to ensure that guests have a memorable dining experience.
The food was an absolute delight, with a selection that catered to both vegetarians and meat lovers. I opted for the vegetarian platter, which included a variety of delectable dishes such as split peas, cabbage, potato and carrot, red lentils, and a flavorful green veggie dish. The injera, a traditional Ethiopian flatbread, was a standout for me - its tangy taste added a delightful twist to the meal. To complement the flavors, I also tried the slightly spicy saffron rice, which paired perfectly with the dishes.
This cafe not only offers amazing food but also provides a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The decor, featuring Ethiopian items, adds to the overall cultural experience and encourages guests to truly immerse themselves in the dining experience without distractions.
In addition to the delicious food, the service was exceptional. The owner's friendliness and genuine care for the guests make this place a must-visit. Whether you're a vegan looking for incredible options or a meat lover craving authentic Ethiopian flavors, this cafe has something for everyone.
If you're seeking an extraordinary dining experience that surpasses expectations, I highly recommend giving this cafe a try. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or someone looking to explore new culinary horizons, this hidden gem deserves a rating beyond the usual scale - it's a true 6...
Read moreMy partner has been pestering to take me here for years, but I’m a pub meal, steak or Parma kinda guy, and have no interest in stews, curries or lentils. I went in with an open mind and we got the banquet/share plate, with chicken, goat and 6 veggie dishes, it comes with a dipping bread. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bread but f&#k me those curries were amazing. I have never had flavour like it, and surprisingly my two favourite dishes happen to be the vegan/vegetarian ones, my bogan pallet has been shocked. Service was amazing, a one man show and he is like an angel, happy, kind, and talked me as a first timer through everything I needed. Then! The Persian love cake!! So good I ordered a second serving then another piece to take away, I don’t know how to explain this cake to anyone except WOW. Even better, it was bloody cheap as chips!
This is not a fancy fine dining experience, it’s not the place to expect white table cloths and candles, but it is a place everyone needs to try at least once, and if you’ve never been you need to go in and try it without overthinking. I’m converted and I can’t...
Read moreNomnom ethiopian cuisine. I will admit i have nfi what african or ethiopian food should taste like.
22.50 meal for one gives u 3 veg and 1 meat stew dish with an ethiopian flatbread. The flatbread was actually puffy with raising flour and tasted sour by itself.
Goat stew was very nice, and quite filling. At least 10-15 pieces of goat in there without 2 much stew, compared to say an indian dish all sauce and 5 pieces of meat. Veg was veg, silverbeet was a tad salty, egyptian beans and beetroot carrot potatoes were flavorful.
Other dish we got was the stir fried cubes lamb beef. Meat may appear tough as it is fried, but delicious. For $25 thol the serving was a bit small...
Fianlly the persian lovecake, the most delicious part of the meal, but srsly, that looks like 1/16 or 1/32 slice off a 6inch cake. For 6.50 i expect slightly more cake but i'll forgive it due to how delicious it was.
4/5 don't be too skimpiy on...
