Nice little asian-inspired vegan (well, 90% of the menu is vegan, the other 2 or 3 dishes are vegetarian) restaurant. Wife and I started with the gyoza, which was a very good size to share between 2 and the veg dumplings (more traditional 1-person entree size), before having the teriyaki udon noodle with shitake stem 'meatballs', and mock pork with black pepper sauce. I could have had a whole bowl of the fried wonton skins that came with the dumplings, while the chili oil packed a nice little kick of heat. And while the shitake 'meatballs' and mock pork would never be mistaken for the real thing, both were delicious with the mock pork being especially surprising. The only negatives I had, personally, was the drinks menu. If you like a wine or beer with your meal, this is not the place for you, as there's none on offer. The soft drinks also are not quite your typical offerings, being organic and tasting just different enough from the norm to raise an eyebrow. Otherwise, service was friendly (if perhaps a tad reserved), food came out quickly and the atmosphere was simple and relaxed. We'll definitely be going back again and would recommend to anyone looking for something a...
Read moreThis is truly almost! "A Boutique Restaurant"? "The Steamed Bao", was excellent ,as was the Mock Pork with Vegetables. Everything we had was truly awesome? Except for those little motor bike riders with a material food transport containers. They were in and out every moment, it was Saturday night, My first visit to my mother since ring of steel was finally removed. Now I don't know how? But the venue was not huge nor was Menu! But it was only 6 pm and they had already run out of two different meals. I will give them consideration considering, they may have had a huge influx of clientele, due to this being the closest we have had a chance to catch up with regional loved one's since the Covid lockdown. I would like to finish with a personal note to the "Owners of the business " or anyone else with a business mind, that to treat every guest you have as an Audition on every part of your business. If we weren't under such weird circumstances, I would say you failed the passing on of a good word about your shop! But because things are a bit upside down, I have given you 5 stars and overlooked, everything that I thought brings this...
Read moreI've eaten here a number of times throughout the years both dining in and takeaway, and the food has always been good. But about a month ago my wife and I had a free Saturday night so we went and sat in for a meal. You could comb every language of the human race and still not find the words to describe how good the food was that night. My wife and I both had a bao, I had the mock duck and my wife had the mock pork tepanyaki (sp¿) Every mouthful was equally stellar and melancholy. Knowing every bite was one bite closer to the end of the dish. If you're vego/vegan and haven't been here do yourself a favor and sit in and experience the food. You won't regret it. Only downside was the robotic, blank, bordering on resentful service from the front of house staff. Mate, I know it's Saturday night and you'd probably rather be pre-drinking in your friends parents shed, but you have a choice. If you choose to work Saturday night in hospo don't take it out...
