As a rule, in the past I've tried to avoid reviewing kebabs from pizza shops. Generally in my experience they're just never as good as kebabs you would get from dedicated kebab shops or vans, and unfortunately my experience at Far West Pizza and Pasta hasn't really changed that opinion.
Firstly, I think it needs to be pointed out this review is purely a critique on their kebabs, and isn't reflective of their pizza or their pasta, both of which I would happily come back and try in a heartbeat. What I will say for the establishment itself, very welcoming, one of the few places fast food outlets I visited that has lazy boy recliners for customers to wait in, so definitely credit where credit is due.
But the kebab, how was the kebab? It was....ok, it wasn't horrible, it wasn't bad, but I probably also wouldn't say that it was great, or even good. It was, ok.
Firstly, the flatbread they use, I've been to a number of other kebab shops that use this type of flatbread, and I've just never liked it. What it makes up in it's ability to hold the ingredients together, it loses in taste, I just find it to be too thick, and rather tasteless.
The garlic sauce was.....questionable, I mean, it was there and it was definitely present, but it was just standard garlic sauce, I wouldn't say there was anything outstanding about it.
Not going to question the freshness of the ingredients, it was hard to taste anything other than the meat, which leads me nicely into my next point.
The meat, probably the one area this kebab lost the most points, the chicken. Way overcooked, tasted almost barbecuey, I don't know how long the meat was cooked on the grill prior to be putting into the wrap for, but the meat was well overcooked and to be honest detracted from the rest of the kebab, very overpowering.
The one place I will give major credit to this kebab for was the price, $10.50 for a kebab with a lot, plus cheese and olives. Definitely the right price point.
Overall, it was ok. Definitely plenty of other superior kebab places in Bacchus Marsh, if a kebab is what you're looking for. But I will reiterate, this review is only a reflection of their kebabs and not their pizza or pasta, which I will at some point be going back to try.
3/5 stars, better options in Bacchus Marsh...

Read moreWell, It's the second time I've ordered from Far west.... They always forget something on my order... This time it was lasagna, last time it was a can of coke. The food is good depending on what you get. I can't really say much about their kitchen menu, but their pizzas are good if you order thick crust. Don't bother ordering a salad or chicken schnitzel as the chips come cold and you get about 6 leaves of salad in a large container that has been absolutely drowned in salad dressing. The lasagna... was surprisingly good. it could have come with the rest of the order, but overall I enjoyed it.
If you do order from them, make sure you remind them to make sure everything is there before they leave the pizza shop and stay clear of everything except pizza and a few pasta items. also, the mexicana pizza... if you love heat... like, a lot... its a good thing to order as they like to forget you ticked The "no Chilli" option on when selecting what heat you would like it at. I'm a pregnant person who has been told to stay clear of large amounts of chilli.... I got chilli paste smeared along the base when I specifically did not ask for it as I was only after low heat.
Its kinda daunting when you think of people who have food allergies. I dont think the owners of this place want a food allergy death on...
