Extremely disappointing customer service.
We visited in a group and politely asked a staff member if they had the capacity to accommodate us. Instead of a courteous response, we were met with unnecessary rudeness and a flat-out "no." Wanting to be respectful, we waited outside and browsed the menu, genuinely considering placing a few takeaway orders depending on what the kitchen could handle.
While I briefly stepped in to use the restroom, I was abruptly stopped and told I couldn’t use the facilities since we hadn't ordered yet. I calmly explained that we were intending to order but were turned away, and that we were still standing outside deciding. Also, I was the only one who used the toilet, not the entire group, so there was no misuse of their space.
I fully understand if a restaurant has certain policies, but there is a way to communicate them respectfully. The tone and attitude we experienced were completely uncalled for, especially from someone representing a business. Courtesy goes a long way, and sadly, this place failed...
Read moreIts precisily 3 hours & 22 min from my house in Melbourne to Bright Victria to arrive at Lamb on Gavan. I know, because I would travel this distance in a heart beat again, to taste the unbelievable lamb & chicken kebabs, the beautifully cooked calamari and the fried chips to go, as we did on Fathers day 2023 recently. We took our order and strolled to the Park along the Ovens river and my whole family couldn't believe the freshness and taste of a such a wonderful meal. My daughter who is a vegetarian loved her falafel kebab too so everyone is catered for. We even purchased hot Jam donuts and one each is not enough. The staff were wonderful and took a great interest in you. If I was served this meal in a high end restaurant I would be estatic. Please visit this wonderful establishment because we need to support our regional friends and I cant wait to get back. PS: If your still talking about it the next day then you know...
Read moreThe cosy dining area out the back, complete with a warm fire, created the perfect ambience. Staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience welcoming. I was really looking forward to dining here and want to share some honest feedback.
I ordered the open souvlaki, the tabbouleh was fresh and delicious, the pita bread was excellent, soft and fresh and the lamb looked amazing, but unfortunately it wasn’t served hot, same for my partner's lamb. When lamb is more cold than warm, it loses its appeal and leaves a fatty residue in your mouth, which was disappointing, it was a little salty too. I do understand it was a busy school holiday period, but this dish would have been outstanding if the lamb had been hot. The portion size and presentation were great, so with that improvement, it could...
