Middels — Restaurant in Victoria

My wife and I were looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner without the kiddies. We decided on Middels as it had a great range of Tapas which we both enjoy. We ordered an assortment of 6 dishes and were quite excited when we saw mains going out to other diners as they looked amazing. Unfortunately when our Tapas arrived we were quite disappointed straight away. There were issues with all but one of the Tapas. I did try to enjoy it as I didn't want to spoil our evening but it got to a point where we both thought it wasn't good. When we were asked how everything was I did politely explain that we weren't happy and the staff relaid this to the kitchen. I was then informed that they had run out of the beverage I had ordered. When it came to settle the bill I was asked again how everything was so I explained politely for a second time how disappointed we both were. I was very impressed at the way Sarah took my comments and that notes were made to be discussed with the kitchen after. I was then given a discount and sincere apology.

We recently moved into the area so we’re keen to try all the cafes and restaurants and decided to take my mum here a couple of nights ago for her birthday. It was our first dining experience here and it was a delight to say the least. The service was so friendly so first impressions were very positive. We ordered a couple of soft drinks lemon lime bitters and many times some bar tenders can’t even get that right but these were well balanced. We had cauliflower Parmesan croquettes with pumpkin purée for entree and it was delicious! Flavours were all there and well seasoned and lovely presentation. For mains we had garlic chilli prawns and grilled fish with salad and chips. Both mains were again delicious, well balanced and seasoned, salad was dressed and the fish and prawns were cooked perfectly. We didn’t order dessert however will try on our next visit, and we will definitely be back. All in all it was a very positive experience, the dining area was clean and would highly recommend to family...

I'm not sure who rated this establishment so high, The staff weren't neat and presentable, we had a new server who didn't recieve help from the other members of staff even though it was her second day and she was very unsure. The "chef" had long hair that wasn't tied back. We recieved the wrong menu's, then were given the correct menu, I ordered from the specials only to be informed it wasn't available. My partner ordered the stuffed chicken, which was dry and bland. I ordered the steak, medium rare and specified, no mushrooms as I'm allergic. It came with mushroom, and they told me that they could just take it off to which I explained again no, you'll kill me. So I then got to watch my partner eat whilst I waited, I recieved my meal after my partner had already finished eating. The steak wasn't seasoned and we weren't offered any sort of compensation for the near death experience. If I could rate...
