Restaurant @ Torquay Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Unfortunately my first culinary experience of the restaurant at Torquay Hotel wasn't great.

The atmosphere and service there was on point. However my Seafood Marinara had Portarlington muscles highlighted on the menu.

When my meal arrived i noticed that 2 muscle shells were empty and the remaining 2 shells contained muscles that were approximately 20mm long, hardly noticeable in the shell.

Disappointed, I hailed our waitress to point it out. Unfortunately there was no empathy on display from our waitress, she was shrugging it off, saying that the muscles from the empty shells had become mixed up in the meal.

Not the response I was expecting from what appeared to be a seasoned waitress. In fact she was quite condescending when i enquired if the catch was fresh or frozen.

She responded that all seafood came frozen, which I know to be unfactual. After pointing out that the Portarlington muscles were highlighted, she confirmed that yes that was local catch.

Fortunately, when another waitress came to collect our plates, she was more empathetic and apologetic.

She said that she was sorry to hear about my experience and would report it back to the chef.

It did restore a bit of faith in me as initially it appeared to be 5 star restaurant. Although my wife reported to me later that her Parma was cold, which cost the he restaurant one star.

We intend to visit again in the hope that the restaurant at Torquay Hotel might redeem themselves.

Definitely above the average due to value for money. Great quantity of food. The ribs were good no doubt but not great. Little on the dry side but overall good seasoning and sauce it was not too sweet which is good as some can be overpowering. It was a good dining experience but the table setting with High chairs is no good not enough back support could do with better seating but overall 3.5 stars but due to price it's 4. Not the first choice but you won't be dissatisfied if...
