Sale Hot Bake — Restaurant in Victoria

We, a group of ten people with 4 kids, spent time in this bakery on the way we went back to Melbourne last week. The little bakery had quite a wide variety of products, delicious Aussie baked good and coffee. Staff were very friendly and happily helped us with unexpected requests from our kids :). Their pies and cakes were yummy and the place was reasonably clean, even their toilet. Staff said the owners have been working very hard for the place. We read some reviews of this bakery a few of them are quite racist and malicious. We totally don't agree with them. When sharing any review, we should do it objectively and ethically as it can reflect our values. Anyway, our experience with this bakery was quite good and we will come back for sure. We wish them all the best for the new year and hope they will keep up...

Asked for two plain cheese sandwiches to be made up for my kids and was told no, that this was a ‘big ask’ because they were short staffed and under the pump. Ended up ordering a pre-made ham and cheese focaccia. Asked for it toasted and was also told no. The bread was soggy and the date on the back was from yesterday. My daughter ordered two potato cakes which were rock solid and likely had been sitting there for a long while. My dad ordered a pie which was cold in the middle. The home made wagon wheel was delicious though. The staff were rude to the guy in front of me which I found very confronting since he was nothing but polite. Stopped here Sunday for a quick bite. Lucky we were hungry because the food was sub standard. Pies were flat and Luke warm, pastry doughy. The kicker though was the egg & bacon toasted sandwich, it was nothing but dry bread, it didn’t have any toasty colour whatsoever. Needless to say we left it after one bite. It is a shame for the business because we intended to buy cakes to take away with us but after seeing the “toastie” we decided against it. This is why small businesses often struggle. They should really apply the “would I buy it test” when selling food perhaps then they wouldn’t get so many...
