In the heart of Ararat, where rural rhythms clash with the uncertainty of a post-pandemic era, Vines Cafe & Bar is a dependable haven of quality and sociability. Having been opened more than two decades ago, this gem of an Art Deco-style cafe on Barkly Street survived economic dips and global turmoil and came out stronger in its dedication to real, comforting things. As we coast 2025's blend of comeback and novelty—characterised by regional tourist boomlets in the Grampians and increasing focus on sustainable, local supply chains—Vines run by Issa & Amal treats consumers to respite from the whirlwind in its richly flavoured products.
Imagine this: a sizzling fire crackling as you enjoy puffy French toast dripping in honey and topped with fresh fruit, or gluten-free chicken schnitzel and rainbow salad, all crafted with local, fresh ingredients. Under the guidance of its committed staff, Vines has transitioned effortlessly, adding veggie dishes such as gnocchi topped with seasonal vegetables and creating outdoor space among vine coverings for safe, socially distanced gatherings. This change is not just an act of survival; it's one of raising spirits and embracing inclusivity in a society still reeling from isolation.
In the era of authenticity, Vines is simplicity without compromise—a slice of home-made heaven served with barista-style coffee equal to Melbourne's best. It's where locals gather for brunch, tourists break their journey to regional adventures, and all of us stop. As Ararat prospers in Australia's regional renaissance, it's the kind of place where nonchalance isn’t just accepted—it’s brewed into every cup and served one delicious bite at a time.
