Ok. This will be fairly detailed, so I will go in order so this helps people in the future. We're on a trip - not locals - btw. Parking is very easy as there is after hours metered parking super close. Whilst busy we still managed to get a booking on the day (with 2 spots available) so I would recommend booking ahead.
Restaurant is very long, you are taken from the bar area to the back in a separate very large and nicely decorated room. Walls have cool artwork and a nice central dining bar with comfortable tall stools.
Menu is more expansive than what you see on their website (a few extra items and minor alterations) but generally the same. We shared an entree of pork belly skewers with house made bbq sauce. The bbq sauce is extremely good, not overly sweet and very well balanced spice wise - it is actually quite similar to the Kansas BBQ Sauce recipe that Serious Eats featured. Pork skewers are ungodly tender, melt yet the outside is very crisp, a similar texture to philipino style crisp pork belly. Portions are absurdly small for the price. A single entre is 2 pork skewers containing 3 medium bites worth.
We then shared the Aged Rib Eye. It was 800 grams apparently, designed for 2 people. Now it is important to consider that while 400 grams each seems like a lot of food, in practice it wasn't. I guess to do with bone weight and whatever. We got medium rare. It was perfectly cooked and astonishingly tender. They don't even bother with steak knives they are that confident. The aged flavors are very interesting, somewhere between mild musk and elements of jerky notes. Excellent. Charcoal taste comes through very well.
Steak is served with 2 sauces and 2 side dishes. As I was that impressed by the Kansas style bbq sauce I got an extra serving. We had a blue cheese sauce which had very strong umami elements and an almost hollandaise like strength, but with a broad musky blue cheese taste. Very good. The bbq sauce was same as the pork, so great. Neither of us liked the peppercorn sauce at all. The chive taste was overpowering, texture was too thin and the aromatic elements were unpleasant. However I am never a huge fan of peppercorn sauce so it's possible others would find it great.
For sides we got a serving of fries, which were excellent. They had a bbq spice on it that had vague elements of celery which was interesting. The other side was charcoal cooked greens. These were not nice, there was an unpleasant and sour chemical taste I believe might have been charcoal starter liquid flavor or something which frankly ruined them. This is a pity because they were cooked perfectly, a mixture of brocolini, beans and asparagus.
Price was about $130 for two people without alcohol. This appears expensive but in all honesty for the amount and quality of the food feels like good value. Be aware however that the pork skewers are uselessly small but extremely delicious. I would give 5/5 if the vegetable flavor issue was fixed, it was a let down. Also at one point there was an unpleasant toilet smell in the dining room, which probably is just a warnambool thing, I don't know.
Highly recommend. Massive...

I was sat at a the center large bench style seating in the center of the room. The space it self is fantastic I was taken aback as I entered not knowing what to expect however it is a special space light modern well decorated and not up it’s self with lovely tropical art and lots of green plants and the exposed rafters. Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed a night out to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary.
I had my eye on myrtle for quite some time and decided that then was no better occasion to book a tabe (bookings highly recommended, up to a week prior).
From the moment we walked in, to the time we departed Myrtle Bar & kitchen, we were welcomed, respected & felt extremely comfortable. The power house, husband & wife working the floor were great at generating conversation without intruding on our privacy, timing our need for drinks and food perfectly. Making suggestions for our meals and reinsuring us on the good decisions we had made.
The meals were divine, a real treat, and a quality that exceeded many other restaurants in the area. Sure, I can agree that the cost is also extravagant, but you get what you pay for, and i know most people couldn't afford to do this on a weekly basis, but for a special occasion it's a must try & I think once you've been it'll be a place to on your list...
