This is an honest review. I’ve been seeing a lot of their adverts on Instagram so my friend and I were excited to check it out. Firstly, we were not happy with the cleanliness. My friend and I reserved a table at the cafe and we were given a dirty table - we ended up cleaning it ourselves. One of the staff members gave me an attitude. Luckily she treated my friend well but with me, not so much. Lastly, I heard that the cafe had a makeover. Haven’t been to this place in the past to give an honest comparison. However, I felt the menu was subpar - nothing special. You can find most of these items in other restaurants. Nonetheless, my waffles were made well and it was delicious, so definitely worth it.

I really enjoyed visiting Butters Place. The layout of the outdoor area is strategically done as to hide the road outside on the corner. All the plants keep the area fairly cool and make it a wonderful cosy little nook to sit in. The inside mightn’t handle sound as well and would fill quickly but my outside experience was pleasurable. The menu catered to various options and the smoothie bowls were colourful and put together with a carefully selected array of flavours and toppings. Almost wanted to go four stars for the limited seating but I think it’s been utilised well and liked the cafe too much to take a star off.

Great setup, friendly staff, inventive and tasty food. Went for a slight hungover brunch on a Sunday morning. Quite busy but got a seat inside. Friendly and efficient service. My wife got the beans and sausage cassoulet (rich tomato ragout, perfectly aligned dente beans and a tasty fennel heavy sausage) accompanied by toasted sourdough. I got the bruschetta with walnuts, roasted tomatoes and dukka (added an extra poached egg), it didn't long. Their coffee is from Black Matters and did the trick.

Hello again!

I hope your Sunday went well, where as mine didn’t. I was really looking forward to visit your cafe as it was recommended by my friends but I was really disappointed. I am not sure which of your 3 staff’s my friend and I upset because we were really happy and nice to them. We really appreciated your staff to realise themselves that they made the coffee out of the wrong milk and took the initiative to change it by themselves. We did came to the counter while waiting for food because it was a long wait and I remember the gentleman telling me to wait for 5-10 mins and I did. Later, I did see the gentleman going to the kitchen and asking the staff about my food, which I really appreciate. But telling your customers to leave is not good! After the gentleman apologised and said the kitchen staff lost my order , its a busy Sunday morning, I understood that! He did offer for a take away coffee and what I said was ‘No I am fine thank you as I am hungry I would need to eat, so are they making the food now or m I gonna starve’? This is exactly what I said. What did the gentleman(the owner) responded- ‘Well if you are gonna be rude then I can ask you to leave’. We don’t remember him offering any REFUND at all. That’s all good, fair enough! We got the food served and my friend tried giving him a feedback by letting him know how rude he was, when he asked us to leave(because we did waited for 40 mins). She said ‘she owns a shop herself and this is not the kind of customer service anyone would expect’. The gentleman again said- ‘Oh, you own a shop? where abouts? My friend declined to answer that question (she didn’t wanted to let him know) and the gentleman walks off saying well you dont have any shop then’ Like for good??? Who walks off and talk like that??? We used the word racist- because we felt it, saying goodbye and thank you for coming was never used for us. So if being racist is not the right word, let me use the right one, ‘Discrimination’ ? We dont like such dramas and we love the community we live in, we love the people but the gentleman really needs to think twice before using such lines as they were really offensive. Your coffee and food was delicious but that attitude was definitely a turn off. Hope if we ever decide to visit again(which is very unlikely), we wont experience this. Have a lovely...

Went to sit at a free table that wasn’t reserved. Was told we couldn’t because the rest of the tablets were ‘reserved’ although there was no signage. We had a toddler with us so I’m not if that was a reason we were not given a table, as a couple came in and got a table?

Ordered a sausage roll, said they were sold out but as I left saw it was in the window.

We ordered take away coffee and ended up leaving as it took over 20 mins and we still hadn’t received it.

Plenty of nicer places with far better service. Can’t comment on the food or drink as we left with nothing.

Response to the owners rude reply: Instead of getting very nasty replying peoples feedback serve your customers so they don’t need to wait. And stop staring at people on your camera, it’s weird… I have proof from messages with my partner who was waiting in the car it was longer than 10 minutes and closer to 20 3 in the short period of waiting there was a lady who received the wrong coffee , no apologises from the staff and someone asked if the food was coming because they had been waiting , so service time in general was awful and I’ve been to busier cafes who cope far better. I was far from rude, I stood in the corner patiently waiting and quietly left, without causing a fuss or saying anything! I stood out of the way , so your comment about standing in front of the machine is nasty. I'm not sure where else I was suppose to stand? And I wasn’t ‘watching’ , your footage would’ve seen me scrolling instagram…

Oh and please clarify the sausage roll, since you know it all sitting watching the cameras… your camera would’ve shown there was one in there?

Get your facts correct before getting on the defence....

My wife and I ventured here yesterday and my wife ordered the coffees, explaining I wanted a long black in a cup and she wanted a latte in a glass pointing to the cup and glass, as if a barista would't know what a long black is but the choice is there for a glass for a latte as some Baristas don't use glasses.

We received both coffees in paper with lids and were told they had used all the glasses so just have them. I don't drink out of paper, ever. So the waitress who was nice asked me if we wanted our money back.

We said yes please and went to collect it and they didn't give the right amount saying that was the amount.

My wife had to prove via her credit card transaction and so they said we must have been charged too much. All the cups and the glasses were still sitting on top of the coffee machine.

They never once offered to make us coffees as we had requested and would only give us change, short change at that until we could could prove we had paid more.

We had to then walk into Subiaco where we received great coffee at the 1982 Food & Coffee shop Rokeby Road. Much nicer service, respect...
