Shopped at Golden Choice each time I went to the Station Street Markets. Their new place on Roberts Road is bigger - with an expanded range (including dried fruit, nuts and grains). While long queues for the checkout can still form - customers get processed faster and the wait has never been too long. The aisles are a bit wider than the narrow spaces that had to be navigated at the Station St Markets and this makes things a bit easier - especially if you have a young child in tow. As per usual - with the cheaper prices than you usually experience in the local supermarket, you need to pay close attention to what you are picking up. My attention wandered recently while getting some grapes and after just a couple of days I found that they were completely covered in mold/fungus! Grapes are not cheap at the moment either. Parking can be an issue but on this account there are 2 bonuses: (1) there is a fast turnover of spaces and, (2) you can now avoid some of the crowd and go...
Read moreIn my opinion, it is the best one for fresh vegetables and fruits in the western suburbs. Relatively cheap prices. It also has wide range of roasted nuts, dray beans, dried fruits, soy sauce and vegetable oils, Tufu, frozen seafood and Lebanese bread. Nice and friendly staff. You can find some rare Asian fruits here. Fresh salad collection and herbs. However, it becomes crowded on weekends such that it is not easy to go through the customer sometimes. Car parks are available, free yet limited space and limited time (around 30 minute). Bus station and train station is close, which is the one opposite to Woolworth and bus 28 passes nearby but only the one goes to west Perth and the city of Perth station, the coming one takes a different route. This market is important for the international students at the University of Western Australia as they used to different cousins in their home countries and hence they require various...
Read moreGolden Choice in Subiaco is my go-to place for fresh fruit and a wide selection of vegetables. While they have a bigger store in Northbridge, this one always has everything I need. I love that they carry particular Asian fruits and veggies that are hard to find elsewhere, like longan, taro, and lotus root, along with a wide range of Asian condiments.
The store can get quite crowded on weekends, so I prefer visiting during weekday mornings for a more relaxed experience. One of my favorite things about this place is their pre-cut fruit, which makes portioning so much easier. They even cut some veggies in half, which is perfect for someone who lives in a small household and hates wasting food.
Parking can be tricky as the few spots right in front are often full, but there’s plenty of street parking nearby. Prices are reasonable, making it a fantastic spot for fresh,...
