The absolutely worst customer service experience ever. Three of us arrrived on 21/12/22 at 7:50pm. There were at least 11 tables available (inside and out). We sat down on the outside table and a friend walked inside to get the menu. A manager walked pased and stood by the entrance door and confronted us from 3-4 meters away. He asked out loud if we had a table booking. We replied no as there was no "reserved" sign on table. Manager told us to come inside and make a booking to be on waiting list as they are "fully booked". He told us we cannot sit there and to move. About 3 minutes later, my friend returned from inside without menu and advised he left his details with the same manager as he was also told they are fully booked. We left and about 5 minutes later and get a call from the manager advising us that table will be available in 5 minutes. I have been to plenty of restaurants and am disapointed in service provided. The manager couldn't even approach our table and had to yell from the entrance so everyone can hear. First of all, maybe next time you should approach customers when speaking to them and not raise your voice from distance. Second, when you learn to approach a customer consider discussing with them and encourage to stay since people cancel bookings and you also had 11 tables free. Ask customers to wait incase "your imaginery booking" cancelled and you would actually make a sale. According to google you were set to close in 1.5 hours time. Being in a place thats busy and on the beach, you shouldn't do bookings as most people walk in from the beach and should be "first in best dressed principle". Never in my life have I experienced such poor behaviour from a manager or staff member. Maybe in future, approach customers with respect and courtesy. You cant tell me that having more then 11 tables free and 5 minutes later you have a table free. We were there a total of 10 minutes and noone sat down on those tables, just few people being turned around. When he called us, he didnt even apologise on how he spoke to us and had zero professionalism as a manager shoud. Maybe the food is "ok" but we wont know as your behaviour towards customers is unacceptable. To add to this, 25 minutes later we walked past again and no change to the 11 tables. What a shame! Really sad to see management...

Funky new venue with OK food ruined by appalling service. My partner and I decided to try breakfast at this new cafe/pizzeria recently relocated from Cottesloe. We had no high expectations as we had viewed their menus and realised breakfast was limited to pizza-esque offerings which is kinda weird. Personally I think they should just drop breakfast and stick to lunch & dinner because most people don't want to eat pizza at 8am. Anyway, we wandered around inside and then outside for a few minutes until the front of house dude - who we could immediately tell had a serious attitude problem - asked us in an abrupt tone with zero eye contact if we just wanted coffee or want to eat. A "good morning" would be nice mate?! He then barked at us that we couldnt sit at any of a row of empty tables as they were 'reserved' (although strangely enough they remained empty during our stay) then literally threw a couple of menus at us. We gave him a coffee order which he took while walking away from us...I sh*t you not! At this stage we were mulling over going somwhere else, as he returned with a sponge and aggressively wiped the table, hitting my girlfriend's wrist off the table as he did so. At this point we both actually burst out laughing because it was just bizarre and I was wondering whether a camera crew was going to burst out and tell us we were being Punk'd. This fellow who served us - I'm guessing mid-thirties with tattoos on his arms - gave the same rude and unprofessional performance for the remainder of our breakfast. He is a terrible host and clearly does not have the skills or temperament to work in hospitality. Owner...

Made a booking two days ahead of time for inside seats. When we got there we were offered a high table looking out to the street by the front door. I asked the gentleman if he had anything else as I wasn’t expecting to be seated in that kind of seating in a restaurant. I pointed to a low table that had just been vacated and said “something like that would be perfect”. He advised me that I hadn’t specified in my booking what sort of seating I would like. I advised him this was the first time of eating here, and in the booking it only asked if I’d like inside, bar or alfresco. I had booked inside and would assume inside would mean a low seat, bar would mean high seats. I felt the body language and tone from the gentleman suggested he was annoyed with my response, but to his credit he did sort out the table that had just been vacated. The menu was presented and to my horror most of it was in Italian. A subject I failed in at school. The starters and pizzas arrived together quickly, and were served on a thin metal plate that was put on a stand so they cooled off very quickly. The first slice was perfect but after that it was cooling down quickly. The pizzas had a soggy base and I needed to use my knife and fork to get it off the stand and to eat it. Overall I feel the place is over rated, expensive, noisy and not value for money. Thank goodness it was Wednesday night and the Pinot on a separate menu was 50% off, and I’m now sitting in comfort at home finishing it off and chatting with my husband without...

We celebrated our anniversary at Canteen Pizza in Applecross, and it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely at home. The team was so warm and welcoming—it honestly felt like we were being looked after by family. That kind of service is rare and made the night feel even more special. We kicked off with drinks—my partner had a beer, and I went with Ivan’s Pick, their weekly wine recommendation. I was lucky enough to chat with Ivan himself, the wine specialist, who helped guide me in choosing the perfect wine. It was such a thoughtful touch and really elevated the whole experience. The 50% off wine on Wednesdays was just the cherry on top! For food, we started with a dozen oysters (incredible), then had the beef tartare and pizza bread—such a good combo, I could’ve eaten it all night. We finished with the Wagyu beef pizza, which was next-level. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. And the vibe? Perfect. The DJ was spinning records all night that absolutely slapped—we loved the music and it just added to the whole atmosphere. We were so relaxed, so happy, and just completely in our element. Thank you to the amazing team at Canteen Pizza for making our anniversary one to remember. We can’t wait to come back!

Food: pizza bases have a nice thick crust but they are quite thin elsewhere. Due to the thinness, they can get quite soggy and the toppings were light. We ordered an eggplant pizza but I found the eggplant/veggies were sparing Topping options aren’t extensive but they have a good variety of deli meats and vegetarian. Options include adding a burrata for about $8 to any pizza, which I liked. Pizza size is not large, enough for two people to have 3 slices each if you want to share. Location/facilities: in the heart of the applecross village with plenty of parking options at the front. Venue is new with a nice bar in the middle and tables/booth options. I however was very disappointed to find no change table facility/nappy disposal in any of the bathrooms, and they didn’t have any high chairs available so we had to keep our 1 year old daughter in the pram. As a pizza restaurant I would expect high chairs to be available since pizza is such a family-style meal. Service: excellent, staff were friendly, took our order ahead, and smiled and checked on us throughout. Price: expensive, about $25 for basic pizzas Overall: nice pizzas, dough is delicious but thin. Lacks family-friendly facilities, toppings are light and pizzas are pricier

Pizza lovers beware. As numerous other reviewers have pointed out, the pizza here is just atrocious. For some reason known only to the resident pizza "chef", Canteen Pizza has decided to buck tradition and full send the avant garde by serving pizza which is both half burnt and half completely uncooked. I'm a pizza snob but I kid you not - Dominos wipes the floor with this joint. The pizza at Canteen is magical but unfortunately it's black magic at work here folks: they somehow manage to incinerate the thick, tasteless crust but leave the entire base a sloppy, soggy mess. You can't even pick up a single slice because the wafer thin covering of toppings - which by the way are only 3 or 4 atoms thick - literally slide right off the jelly-like base which droops like an old dong. I mean, check out the photos: it would have been comical if we weren't ravenous. The toppings were tasteless, the staff took zero interest in our dining experience and so we left the wet mess sitting on our plates and high-tailed it to McDonalds for a meal thrice the quality for a third of the price. Let that sink in.
