I'm here at General Public more days than not - a friend and I are both coffee addicts I suppose (I can't resist a good Mocha), and General Public absolutely delivers on that front.
With regard to features - there's aircon blasting anytime the weather is warm, there's decent off-street wheelchair access through the main door, the place is dog-friendly and has outdoor seating as well with weather blinds. There's always a token newspaper or two out, and a few toys for children too (I've seen the occasional parents' group besiege the place with their bubs). There's parking around the corner/side-street, and the streetside vibe is just what you'd expect of Inglewood. All pretty much standard 'pleasant' fare... so nothing to crow or complain about.
The real reason I wanted to make this review, however - is to comment on the staff who work there. They are a gold standard of friendly - not just to customers, but also to each other (kudos to management, I should think). There's an atmosphere of positivity that spills over the counter, and in hundreds and hundreds of visits, I've walked away every time feeling that this is how a coffee-shop/restaurant should be. I wholeheartedly recommend. Judging by the numbers of other regulars I see on a near-daily basis, I'm not alone in this...
Read moreGeneral Public is pretty hit and miss. Sometimes it’s ok sometimes it’s way below average. Which is very disappointing as it’s not cheap. Tonight was definitely below average.
Tonight I ordered ‘the big dog’. The pizza looked nothing like the image supplied in the online ordering form. Tasted of nothing it had zero flavour, probably as it had barely any toppings. It was pretty bad and I really wish I had not wasted my money.
The chicken bites are ok. Pizza not so much. When I ordered chocolate milkshake before it was way thicker. Tonight was super thin.
From previous experiences service has been pretty average, my order was missed the last time I dined in and I waited over an hour for chicken bites and chips.
The main issue I have with this place is it’s so inconsistent and you never know if it will be decent or not. It’s the same with the dough, I’ve had it’ super thick and not properly cooked through but somehow burned on the outside, other times it’s thin and burned. I’ve ordered folds before with barely any ingredients inside and sometimes they’ve had plenty.
For the price I want consistency. I won’t be ordering from here and wasting my...
Read moreHonestly wow. All I can say is I am blown away with the amazing delivery on my order that I placed with Inglewood public yesterday. After having one of the most long and stressful days I’ve had in a while, navigating issues with my job, my uni assignments and dealing with the fallout of suddenly finding myself navigating a situation of homelessness, I decided, post footy practice, that I would collect a pizza for dinner. On a whim I decided to include a special request and wrote the note below, not thinking too much of it. But when I came to collect my order, and seeing the initial writing on my delivery packaging, I had to immediately turn and run out the door so I wouldn’t have a breakdown in front of the staff. But I am writing this review as 1.my pizza was amazing. 2. The desserts were very much appreciated. And 3. Most importantly, the kindness and compassion of simply writing my a note, turned my whole day around. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You have a customer for life here, and I will be sure to pop in and thank you all in person. Hope you are all having a wonderful day, because I sure am. Lots of...
