I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant in my life, after being very excited to try this for weeks I left completely shocked. The restaurant itself is beautiful and this is the only nice thing I can say. The food was disappointing, our salmon pasta first course was overcooked and no one had anything nice to say about their second courses (fillet/fish of the day/pumpkin/quail) and I won't bother saying anymore on food.
The worst thing was that the service was appalling. We waited over 25 minutes to be told the specials and have our dinner orders taken. I ordered a vegetable side and the lady (who I believe may have been the manager) was quite insistent that the other 3 guests order vegetables or a salad each as the second courses don't come with any sort of side. My friend requested that no salad accompany his fish, and the lady very unecessarily said those that put salad into a plate should not be in the restaurant industry. When the second courses came along with my side of vegetables, the waiter attempted to serve these from the side dish into my plate. I politely requested that he not do so. After a few minutes another waiter came to put the vegetables into my plate and I again politely requested that he not do so. In the meantime of us eating our meals, my friend asked to try a potato from my side dish that I had not yet touched and I passed a potato to him. The lady (possibly the manager) then came to serve the vegetables into my plate while I again requested she leave them, this time saying- if the other guests wanted sides they should have ordered them, that they could not change their service and they were not like the Chinese (I am half Chinese) and if they did not serve the vegetables the other clients in the restaurant would become confused (who I'm sure were not bothered about vegetables being on the table in a side plate as like normal people at dinner they were minding their own business). She did this hastily and managed to land a mushroom on the table, which she then put a fork into and put into my plate. She explained to the other 3 guests that this was the service and they could not change it, to which my friend replied that it was quite irritating... she then said I know honey, and patted him on the face! I left my mostly uneaten quail and vegetables in the plate and we paid and left the restaurant.
A note to management on basic courtesy: Leave race out of comments that you make to guests. Never ever touch a guest on the face in a patronizing manner, or really in any manner when you are not familiar with that person. If guests are paying for their meal or side, it is theirs to do what they wish. I honestly would have preferred it be taken back to the kitchen rather than forced rudely into my plate.

Read moreBased on the reviews on Trip Adviser I decided to take my wife on her birthday on 17 Oct 2013 to dinner at Perugino with my two teenage daughters. My wife is a vegetarian.
We were very warmly greeted by a young waitress and seated. The ambiance was nice though atmosphere a bit formal and stiff. We browsed through the menu only to find that the choices for vegetarians were extremely limited.
The elderly lady who we later discovered happens to be wife of the Chef and the owner Giuseppe came to take our orders. She was supercilious right from the word go. Of very limited vegetarian choices nothing could really interest my wife and we were taking some time. The lady suddenly snapped and shut the menu on my wife’s face saying that vegetarians should be flexible and we should in fact have gone to a vegetarian restaurant rather than coming to an Italian restaurant. We could not believe what we just heard and decided to leave. I politely asked her why she was being so rude with us.
She escorted our family to the door and we could not have in wildest dream imagined what happened next. She stood in the lobby and pointed her hand towards the door saying “Now I am being rude-OUT”, repeating it twice.
All of us went numb with feeling of shock mixed with rage not able to believe this was actually happening to us that too in a restaurant that prides itself on being a premium Italian restaurant. We walked out of the door still not able to fully comprehend the reason for this complete humiliation. Outside the restaurant we were speechless for minutes trying to make sense of what we just went through.
We went to another restaurant where we were treated with warmth and respect that is due to guests and had very fulfilling meal. However despite trying hard we were not able to get over the sheer humiliation we had faced.
We decided to go back to the restaurant to see the owner and seek an apology from the lady. We left our daughters in the car as they were badly shaken by the experience.
We met Giuseppe the owner who heard us very patiently and appeared anguished but completely helpless in asking her overbearing wife to apologise to guests whom she had so badly humiliated as if they were a bunch of beggars. We asked him what we did to deserve such humiliation and crass behavior but he had no answer.
This to date has been the worst ever experience that we as a family have ever faced in our lives that too on the special day of my wife’s birthday.
If it happened with us it could happen with anyone.
Now I have noticed that numerous other guests have shared similar experiences with the lady on Urbanspoon.
If you are a self respecting individual , STAY AWAY even if the...
Read moreCould not find our reservation. My date was chastised for trying to put his jacket on the back of his chair. When he sat down and slightly rearranged his wine and water glass he was again chastised by the same woman, saying that was their job and they were placed in certain locations for a reason! We waited … no one came to offer water or menus. We flagged down a young waitress who asked if we wanted a drink. We asked for the wine menu. Nothing for a number of minutes while others were being served. We called the waitress over again and asked again for the wine menu. She looked embarrassed and said, if we could just wait and looked over her shoulder to the male waiters with clients on the other side of the restaurant. When we showed her the wine we wanted by showing her on the menu, she wanted to take the menu away but we wanted to keep it do we could look at it longer. No wine. Then a man came to take our wine order. We pointed to the one we wanted and kept the menu. We finally got wine - equivalent in price to what we had ordered. Such a protracted way of just ordering wine! Young woman poured it and was trying to get it to the line on the glass! What? We had bought the whole bottle, why worry about perfect measuring?? Giving our order was easier and waiter was very helpful in making it known, which dishes were gluten free. However, the complimentary arachini was served to my date and I. When we asked if mine was gluten free, the waitress went away to ask. It was NOT gluten free!! Glad we asked! It could have been even more of a disaster of a night! A replacement of prawns arrived quickly.
While eating my risotto, the older woman who had greeted and seated us told me I should not be eating it with the spoon supplied on the plate! When I mentioned the (large) serve, she brushed away my comment , saying that the body knows how much it needs and in their experience, this was a good size, suggesting I should be able to eat it all.
My date had the duck and I had the rabbit. Both tasted a bit dry and lacking flavour!! We were not impressed! We certainly expected much better! My date had dined with your restaurant a couple of times in the past and had really, really enjoyed it … hence our visit! We were both put off by the rude older woman, the poor service and lacklustre quality of food. We will...
