Epic Espresso — Restaurant in Western Australia

I visited Epic Espresso for the first time today. The café is conveniently located in the central area near the eating hub on Hay Street (Outram Centre). The ambience was okay for a café. I ordered Vietnamese spring rolls, yogurt, and a hot chocolate with lactose-free milk for dine-in. The spring roll wasn't displayed behind the counter, as they prepare them fresh when you order, which I was delighted to hear. I was also pleased that they have lactose-free milk for my hot chocolate.

The owner, a lady, was attentive in serving my table, which I appreciated. After eating the spring roll, I started on my yogurt. When I tried to open the aluminum foil lid, half of it came off without any effort, suggesting that the tub wasn't properly sealed in some area. I informed the owner, but she became defensive, stating that they did not open it and that she checks everything when they receive the delivery in the morning. I understand that, but I can't change the fact that the lid wasn't properly sealed, and no one should eat a dairy product that might be compromised in terms of contamination. I asked them to exchange it for a new tub of yogurt, which they did, but I could tell they were not happy about it.

I paid $23 for everything. Hopefully, I did not pay for two yogurts.

The positive interaction in the beginning changed to a not so positive one. I will not be coming back and will opt for many other options around the area instead.

Despite my high expectations, service destroyed my experience. Staff members appeared lifeless and when one of the other workers stepped up to the other till to take my order, they couldn't understand or speak English. I was patient and had repeated my self to simply be misunderstood and given the wrong coffee 4.50 for a shot instead of the originally requested latte. Working in the service industry myself communication should be top priority.

Have never been to this Cafe, and will never be going. I advise against it. I was walking past with my partner in the morning when the owner started chasing us threatening to call the police on us for supposedly stealing from his Cafe. It was only because the staff there confirmed that we weren't in fact the culprits. Absolutely appauling behaviour from the owner. I encourage everyone to avoid going there so they don't get falsely accused of something they didn't do.
