Bit of a hard one to rate the Tribe hotel.
Positives: The hotel itself is great. Well designed, stylish and in a good spot. They have onsite parking as well as street parking which you can use the EasyPark app for so you can only pay for when you actually need to park and it’s cheap too. The rooms are very small, BUT they’re very well designed and it felt cosy, not cramped. Bathroom again small but smartly designed and had great products. Bed was very comfy and slept well and the entire end wall being a huge floor to ceiling window helps with the sense of airiness. It’s small but felt premium. The staff are also great, when we checked in the guy was professional, very friendly and helped find our booking (it went missing due to a computer issue). He actively problem solved to try and figure out what had happened and I was impressed with his service. The other staff I met were always very professional and polite. The hotel itself is also in a great location and very quiet.
Negatives: Two issues I encountered which unfortunately brought the polish off the experience and took away from it being a 5 star review was firstly, that my friend staying in a different room woke up covered in a rash/red dots wherever they had been laying on the bed. Contacted the hotel regarding this but still no response as of yet. Secondly, another guest staying on the same floor had charmingly thrown up all over the carpet, all the way from the lift to the hallway. It meant having to lift our bags and awkwardly tip toe along the edge of the floor, then one of us ending up having to walk on the thinner part of the vomit to get to the lift button and the other one jumping over, with bags. This I appreciate is completely circumstantial and not the hotels doing, however the Tribe’s management of the issue is what lets it down. The staff knew about the vomit and informed a cleaner was coming in a few hours as they can’t touch it because it’s body fluids which I understand. However, not having an ability to rectify or manage it on an interim level somehow, like having an onsite kit to deal with body fluids or something to put over the vomit on the floor so I don’t have to ruin my shoes/walk in someone’s body fluids myself is surely not the best option.
The negatives again may have been bad luck, but unfortunately I don’t know if I’d be willing to give the hotel another go especially after having it cost me money in shoes being ruined and my friend having to go...
Read moreTribe is a bit different to your "normal" hotel and the are very open and proud about it. To save you time to read this review my number one tip is to scan the room QR code and read the hotel info on the TV in the room to learn about the hotel. It's all about community and collaboration and making the most of small spaces. Located in King's Park it's in one of Perth's prime position. Staff is super friendly and helpful at reception and the bar. The rooms are small and practical. If you travel in pairs you should be comfortable with each other in a confined space. I had room 811 with sweeping views over the Hills through floor to ceiling windows. The bed was super comfortable. It is a bit higher than normal ao one can store luggage underneath. TV has chromecast like most Accor Hotels. Great water pressure and the fluffiest towels. Because it's a small bathroom and the shower os open it can flood a bit if one is splashing around. The only annoying thing with my stay was that the air-conditioning/ fan was rattling even when switched off. Hotel amenities..well there are none. The gym is outside and called King's Park. There is no pool. The communal area downstairs has nice couches and work desks. There is also a bar area where breakfast and dinner can be eaten as well as a small outdoor area. They offer breakfast in the morning ..continental buffet for $25 or $18 if pre booked at check in. I did it one morning but it wasn't for me as the offering was very basic or too Asian cuisine focused which isn't my taste for breakfast. They do offer a la carte breakfast and that was lovely. Dinner menu is good and the dishes I tried were all great value..pub food style. There is also a pantry where pre-prepped meals and sandwiches can be purchased as well as snacks and drinks (in lieu of mini bar) a sandwich press and microwave is available to heat up those or self purchased meals. There is also a water tap for still and sparkling water to refill water bottles (if one hasn't got one they are available for purchase). It should be noted that dinner and bar service is not available on Sundays and public holidays. I loved myself stay here and was surprised to find that they are the only one in Australia..there is one opening in Auckland this year. Would definitely stay again as it suits my solo traveler...
Read moreI spent five days at Tribe. The hotel’s location is good, as it’s right next to Kings Park and there are also nice cafes and restaurants nearby. The room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed at, but it was well-designed. The bed, bedding, and pillows were very comfortable — I slept great every night. It was very hard to regulate the temperature — for the first two days, I was very cold, as the thermostat wouldn’t go above 19°. I addressed it with Reception after my first night, but it wasn’t sorted. I also advised the Reception two mornings in a row that the sink is blocked and it takes a very long time for the water to drain — again, this wasn’t addressed over the five days I spent there, even though I was assured it’ll be fixed. The lobby/business area/restaurant is nice and colourful, with good louder music at night. You can either have a very limited buffet style breakfast ($23), or choose from a limited menu (around $21-$26). Although the breakfast and dinner menus are quite limited, anything I had was very delicious. They also have a snack bar where you can purchase juice, chocolate bars, sandwiches, salads, and wraps from. I got an egg sandwich ($12!!), which was very stale and I didn’t end up eating it. Staff are very friendly and polite. There’s an American girl at the Reception in the evenings, who is great, as well as a super lovely guy (very tall and slim) at the restaurant at night (unfortunately, I didn’t get their names) — they’re both very, very nice! The carpark has to be booked, as it only has around 8-10 spots. Driving in/out of it is a bit of a mission, if you’re driving a mid-sized SUV. Overall, I liked Tribe, and I’d stay...
