My husband and myself booked to have an early dinner last night at Mayfair having googled for a good steakhouse. Before I commence the review I would like to emphasise how helpful the floor staff and floor manager were. The ambience was great and decor lovely. We chose to order the 620g Chateaubriand at a cost of $139. We requested a medium to rare cook. At the time of ordering we were advised it would take some time and we were happy with that. After almost a 45- 1hr wait our steak came out. It was burnt to a crisp on the outside and completely dry and inedible. I spoke to the waitress who called the Manager who apologised profusely and offered for it to be redone etc etc. We had already started on our sides and so the meal experience was ruined. Again the staff were very apologetic and offered new sides but we were not happy to waste food and just patiently waited. After another 25 minutes the second steak arrived and it quite burnt on the outside (they called it charred) and then literally had sections of raw steak through the middle and extremely bloody. We were so disappointed that the chef clearly had no idea how to cook a steak medium to well even on a second attempt. Given the steak was $139, it should be beyond perfect not some burn't rubbish we were presented with. I am appalled the chef had the presence of mind when he cut into both attempts to actually sent out the steak as he/she did. I had dinner at Conventry Markets last week and the steak I got there was just beautiful and perfectly cooked and it only cost me $24. As I said the Manager tried to make up for the experience by offering takeaway meals but we had already wasted 2 hours for nothing and quite frankly I wouldn't trust anything that chef cooked after the experience we had had. We did not pay for anything but sadly we left hungry and totally in awe...

As someone who has dined and written about many restaurants and bars, I can say without hesitation that our private family celebration at Mayfair Lane was truly memorable. We held a special early Christmas gathering in the private dining room, and from the first enquiry the experience was faultless. Jasmin, the event manager, was outstanding — attentive, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with, in contrast to the rigidity often encountered at other venues.

On the evening itself, owners Chris and Foni brought a warmth and generosity of spirit that made the occasion all the more special. Chris was the perfect host — gracious, welcoming, and good-humoured enough to step into the role of Santa, much to everyone’s delight. Foni, with her depth of wine knowledge and engaging character, led a pre-event tasting that was both entertaining and informative, setting exactly the right tone for the celebration.

The food was superb, praised by all, and the service throughout the night was impeccable. My thanks to the chef and the entire team. For many of our family and friends it was their first visit to Mayfair Lane, but certainly not their last. It was an evening of genuine hospitality, fine food, and excellent company — the sort of occasion one...

Was an absolutely brilliant night, Emma and her wider team helped us setup a fantastic night for our engagement party. It was spacious, it had good service, guests commented on how good the service was, loved the little cards they had made for us detailing the menu (something we hadn't asked for), how they went through all the rules prior and let us know what the expectations were, the decor, the furniture, the music!

All of it was great, and plenty of people commented on the 'find' as well. Even if it's right in West Perth... bizarre more people don't come and visit this great place more often!

Will also say that I asked many places across the city about hosting the engagement party, and plenty of places had a website that detailed their event holding rules (however when you called them they changed, or would dare to ask for more, or a minimum spend).

While Mayfair Lane? They communicated they could make it happen and it was completely in line with what their website said, and they gave a brochure to help us decide what our options were. All in all, if anyone needs a place to hold an event then Mayfair Lane...

What a lovely place and atmosphere, I was recommended this place by a colleague and I had high hopes. However I was fairly disappointed about the Scotch Fillet I ordered. I ordered it rare thinking it would come out nice and juicy, however the steak I got was so dry that I even drenched it in the sauce and it was still dry. To add on top the duck fat potatoes were dry too :( The staff were very friendly and when asked if I was finished, I let them know I was still going just taking a little to finish as it was so dry. They apologised and said they would let the chef know, but then proceeded to zoom pass my table when going past and never followed up. Not what I expected from a $52 steak I could have gotten cheaper and better elsewhere. Only redeeming thing was the cocktail I ordered was lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Looks can be deceiving :(

This is one of my favourite places to go for a large steak to share. I have had the tomahawk steak here more times than I can count and it has always been a bit with whoever I take there. The location is great and central, restaurant is cosy without being claustrophobic, on this particular night the waitstaff were unbelievably good - I wish I got their name but I forgot to ask. The general menu is good - and I have tried many dishes on it which have been good, but really you have to try their tomahawk or their chateaubriand steak - easily enough for 2/3 people. If you’re a meat lover then this is one of those places that you absolutely must come and try out. It seems expensive but when you divide it to a per head price it really isn’t too bad (for special occasions).

What happened with the chef??? We felt we were served kids portions as the carpaccio and the linguine dishes were ridiculous small?! $24 for a carpaccio with 6 tiny pieces of meat and cappers? Remember guys, you are a PUB! Pub food is known for being reasonably sized and priced. When politely asked one staff member about the size of the portion and if he could check with the chef if it was okay, we got a rude reply “that’s our carpaccio size”.. 👎🏻 The caesar salad almost didn’t have any dressing, no croutons at all and the chicken on it was cold (it wasn’t heated or prepared fresh at all). Myself and hubby always been advocates of this place but won’t be coming back unfortunately. Quality and service are def not the same anymore :/
