My partner and I have been coming here for dinner and drinks for a few years now. We usually come on steak night. It was a favourite however last night we came for a last minute dinner and I left feeling a little bit ripped off and sickly. 2 meals and 2 drinks cost $100. We noticed the raised prices since last coming for dinner. This is understandable if quality doesnāt drop however, quality has dropped.
I ordered salt and pepper squid with a side of grilled prawns and no mayo (due to allergy). The salt and pepper squid had zero flavour. Not salty not peppery, just rubbery and despite the ridiculously huge serving, because it was totally flavourless it wasnāt enjoyable. A dish should not rely on mayonnaise to give flavour, the seafood should have sung on its own so to speak and any condiment used simply there to compliment and enhance it. The chips were soaked in oil and overcooked. The grilled prawns sprinkled atop were tiny and flavourless, most definitely frozen imported shrimp and not decent prawns at all. I would no longer recommend the squid or the side grilled prawns at 7mile.
The side salad was dried out and limp on the plate, it looked absolutely miserable and as if it had been plucked from a bowl of salad sitting in a fridge uncovered from 10+ days ago - certainly not fresh at all, consisted of old and dried out cut cabbage and a little bit of green leaf, 2 slivers of dried out cucumber and a huge chunk of on the verge of rotten tomato that was sloshy and gross and 2 slices of lemon. Not at all like the quality meals we have received here in the past.
Went to the bar for our drinks and ordered our usual fruit tingle slushies only to taste them see each others scrunched up faces at the flavour and comment to each other in annoyance that they were not fruit tingles at all. Our glasses were filled with a dark purple berry/currant flavoured drink that tasted really really unpleasant. Not at all what we have received there in the past and we always come here for slushies! They have always been so good but whatever you have in your machines currently is not a fruit tingle and it doesnāt taste good.
My partner ordered the creamy garlic prawns and said his wasnāt bad, it tasted good but the prawns were small and would be better if they used real prawns he reckons (not imported shrimp).
Sadly itās not like it used to be here and I suspect a possible change in management or ownership since our last visit, which is a shame because it used to be a favourite place for us to come. Staff were friendly but the food was very disappointing. If I had come here as a first timer I probably would never return. I still donāt think we will be back, weāll maybe for the skimpies but definitely not for the food. Just some food for management thoughts to consider on improvements. Sadly not at all what it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI often go to 7 Mile, and have always found the menu meals to be good quality and nicely varied. Today I opted for their regular Sunday Roast. The roast of the day was pork and as someone who grew up with country cooking, I was looking forward to this. The meal arrived, and as always was a very generous serving. There was plenty of gravy, veggies and 3 good slices of pork roast. I was firstly disappointed to see there was no apple sauce. It helps cut the fattiness of the pork and balances it out. Sadly, this seems to becoming the norm in pubs now. The first slice of pork was lovely. Just at the almost falling apart stage as I cut it and nicely moist with good flavour. The final 2 slices were disappointing. Expecting these to be the same, I was greeted with very dry meat which required regular sips of my drink to get down. Upon closer inspection, I'm guessing these 2 slices had been precut for efficiency and placed in a warmer until required. The potatoes and pumpkin were very good, with potatoes served whole in their jackets, unlike the little pieces a number of kitchens seem to like to present you with. Carrots were good, then I got to the greens. I'm guessing that they were frozen beans, I took a mouthful of what felt like warm beans and bit down into cold centres, which was a bit of a surprise and unpleasant. I've never had any issues with food before at 7 Mile. Their menu items have always been very good quality. I would try a roast of the day again, just not if it's Pork. I consoled myself with a very good apple pie with cream and icecream. The pastry was lovely and the filling had a beautiful balance of spices. I'd go there for a morning or afternoon tea...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my favourite place now 7 Mile Inn Restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and staff are kind and friendly. I also like how children are very welcome and catered for too. The adult and children main meal servings are very generous and very reasonably priced. For even greater prices there are special week day prices. Example Monday children 12 and under eat free accompanied with a adult having a dinner. Tuesday is Pasta night From $15 Wednesday is Steak night From $23 Thursday is Parmi night 15 different types of Parmigiana's at a very good price which I can't remember. There is also a Friday night special however I can't remember what the price was for Burgers and sliders. Give them a call if you need to know more. I am hooked now. Made my family very welcome.
Thank you to all the staff and management at 7 Mile Inn Restaurant for looking after myself and my family every time I made reservations especially my Mother's 84th Birthday Celebration on Sunday 8th October 12:30pm onwards.
